My Droid Eris is completely messed up. I bought it with 2.1 software with some mods on it.

How can I get it back to a normal clean 2.1 version?

Please help!

Let me know if you have any useful links or files and how to use them.

Thank so much.

Hello Kheeney.

It looks like you got yourself an Eris that has been tweaked a bit. I'm wondering if it's a 2.1 OTA ("Over The Air" upgrade, meaning one that was upgraded from 1.5 to 2.1 "naturally" from a Verizon sent update) or a "leak," meaning a 2.1 done by the user from a bit of hacking.

Either way, to "start over" with a clean 2.1, go into the menu and press "settings" then "privacy" then "factory reset."

It'll prompt you as what to do in steps after that.

Here's a whole thread about it:

Good luck. Have fun.

In your first post you mentioned wanting ".. a normal clean 2.1 version," which is different than a "..factory 1.5 ROM.." which you express the desire for in your latest post.

Have you attempted the factory data reset?

Yes. It is a 2.1 Rom but it has an overclock mod built into it so I can't remove it. I want to get to the.normal factory 2.1 no mods. So whatever I have to do to do to get to that will be done. I'm looking for either a 1.5 Rom or 2.1 Rom that is stock. If i got the 1.5 I could do the ota upgrade to 2.1

You've acquired a rooted Eris and you want it restored to factory 2.1?

If that is the case, that process is different depending on additional factors.

I'd like to point you to several threads here at the forums that discuss various issues with that.. take a look at this list from doing a search in the "All things root" forum on, "unrooting."
