Help Please help!!! No system update option...

HELLO some one please help me, I got a new DHD, and I don't know whether its a rooted or not, How can i check wetherit is rooted or not?? And how can i check my system updates??? As everyone say i go check IN SETTINGS-ABOUT PHONE -BUT here I can find all like software info,kernel info,etc, but I cant find the system update option,IT'S MISSING.what should I do now, what is wrong with my mobile .,???

On one of the home screens, press the search button, then type updates. One of the first options to come up (dependant on how the phone is configured) should be "System Updates". Hit that and one of the options should be HTC System Updates.

Are you sure it's not in the About Phone menu, the top option?

when i click on software update.~ it shows no update available..~~ can you please tell how i can get the updates~~and how to know whether the phone is rooted or not ?

Thanks for that info, I've been in contact with HTC support because my phone is also missing the software update option through the about phone settings. They have been absolutely no help at all.
This thread has provided the useful info to go through the search option and that works, so that is great.

However, when I try updating the "HTC software update", I keep getting "connection error".
When I try the other updates (Firmware, update profile, Update PRL), I get "Not support OMADM!".

Anyone got any ideas on how I can get the update working? (I've tried updating when connected through wi-fi and 3g but still get "connection error" when trying "HTC software update"). Thanks!

I'm in New Zealand but bought my phone in China.

I'm running Android 2.2 and looking forward to the updgrade to 2.3.

It could potentially be something to do with the fact you bought the phone in another country from where you're using it. However, if you've the stock HTC firmware on (which you have), I wouldn't have thought it would make a difference.

It's a long shot, but you could try a factory reset, then trying it again.

Failing that, if you're desperate for the update, your software version is easily rootable so you could root and install a ROM based on 2.3.3?

I tried the factory reset, but to no avail (though I lost all my game data and my Amazon Kindle app seems to think I have two devices now ).

I like HTC sense (though have never tried any custom ROMs), so not really looking to root and install a custom ROM (but maybe will root anyway - need to find some info on how to do that).

I'll be heading to Hong Kong in a months time so will try to update there before doing anything else (Hong Kong close enough to China? hopefully...).

No probs, rooting is really easy and there are plenty of ROMS based on HTC's official offering. If you do want to give it a shot, let me know and I can point you in the right direction.

However, I've done a bit of googling and OMADM looks to be software that's used to manage mobile devices OTA. I'm wondering if the software is corrupt or even not installed?
