I got a Droid HD to replace my Droid X. Upgraded as I need to travel internationally on work and am leaving tomorrow.

I switched off the old phone, activated the new one and thought will get all the apps and associated data ported over. I switeched my microSD card from old phone to new also
I looged onto my google play account during phone setup. waited waited waited nothing! Then I went to google play and installed a few o my apps just to see maybe that is needed. The app is there but the associated date is not :(

I logon to my Google Play Account and it is showing both the devices. What do I need to do?

Sorry. I did not elaborate enough I guess.
I need the apps/info to come over from the old phone to the new. All I have synched from the old phone is the address books.
All the apps and associated date, SMS messages (very important for me), email accounts (I guess I could set up tomorrow morning when my companie's tech help opens) did not come over

For SMS I recommend SMS Backup+. Install it on both phones, and follow the directions to backup and restore.

Your app's data will not transfer unless you root both phones and use an app like Titanium Backup to backup your apps with data.

For the apps, you either have to manually install them again one by one from the app list you have, or use Appbrain. Download to both devices, then use the "manage apps" sync feature. Sync the app list from the old phone to your Appbrain account, then login on the new phone and then click the restore list option, and Appbrain will automatically download the apps from the Play Store for you.

As for the app data, like your game saves, unless the games have cloud save option, you won't be getting them onto your new phone unless you are rooted on both.
