Root please help..to unroot htc evo4g..

I purchase a htc evo 4 yesterday and come to find out today its rooted to something like(mikg),,and i even asked the guy if it was rooted and he said no,,i would like to unroot it and go back to factory settings..dont know much of the whole rooting thing, appreciate if someone can help me,,im kinda new to this stuff,,thank you..

So to start, read this thread: ROOTING For Dummies Guide.....the Gingerbread Edition

Notice the instructions for unrooting:

---
yay! i have s-off but what if i need to get my phone serviced? or i hate all this rooting business and i want to go back to my boring gingerbread phone. how do i get s-on?

to get s-on

1.download this file:PC36IMG6.17.zip

2.rename the file by deleting the numbers so that it is only PC36IMG and do not add any zip to the name as windows hides extensions.
3.transfer the zip file to the root of the sd card.
4.power off (make sure that fastboot is turned off) then press and hold power+vol down.
5.hboot should scan for it. select yes to update.
6.reboot your phone

next we need to get a stock rom and stock recovery

7.download this file:PC36IMG_SuperSonic_GB_Sprint_WWE_4.24.651.1_Radio_ 2.15.00.05.02_NV_2.15_release_199233_signed
8.rename the file to PC36IMG. again make sure that you do not add a zip as windows hides extensions.
9.connect your phone via usb to the pc and transfer the file over to the root of the sd card. also delete the previous PC36IMG file. make sure that you do not get the two files mixed up as they will be named the same.
10.power off then press and hold power+vol down.
11.hboot should see the file and will ask you to update, select yes.
12.verify that you have s-on by going to the hboot screen.

if you have s-on then congrats you are now unrooted!

Right on! Perfect reply JSD.

@ OP.

Why not keep MikG??
That is one of the best roms out right now. It's rock solid, and you'll have features a stock unrooted evo will never see.
Plus aamikam, the guy who made MikG, has removed all of the nasty tracking and log apps and services that HTC so sneakily placed in the new OTA. If you don't mind HTC being able to steal all of your messages, contacts, call logs, passwords, everything, stock is ok. Read this thread and check out the article linked in here:

ok i understand it a little, only thing that im confused is naming both files the same and when to download the files..and once done,,i will be able to use my phone and all its function,or will i lose something..

So the naming of the files:
Basically you just rename the first file PC36IMG (if you're on a windows pc you can right-click on it and go to properties to make sure it is still a .zip file).

Once you go through the first 6 steps, before moving over the second file, DELETE the first PC36IMG, then rename the next one in the same way.

(Basically the phone is looking specifically for a file names PC36IMG, that's why you have to do all that).

Once you've gone through the whole process, you'll basically be back at a phone just as it was new out of the box. Meaning you will have lost any personal information, but NOT any functionality.

Does that all make sense?

(make sure that fastboot is turned off) how do i figure this out..last thing

Go under menu / settings / power management / UN check fastboot. I think MikG has it turned off by default, and I think thats where it is on that rom.

EDIT: Poop, JSD beat me to it! Must be fleet of finger.... :D

You can also use the RUU .exe method on the computer listed in the dummies guide. Thats what I did and it all worked very well.
