Root Please help with clockworkmod

My i500 is rooted and running superclean 2.1 from this thread.

i want to add the facebook update and 5 lockscreen mod/redbread theme.

here's my problem... No matter what I've tried I cannot get my phone to boot into clockworkmod. I have scoured several forums adn nothing I have tried has worked. I boot into recovery using vol up/down and apply update.zip. The progress bar shows up gets about 1/4 done and kicks me right back to the blue text recovery screen.

Is there a certain version of clockworkmod I should be using?

or is there by chance another way to install these things other than clockwork?

You can probably just re-install cwm via odin. I don't have the link handy on me though but it should be on the xda forums.

ok, so Now i got it to boot into clockwork(red) but whenever i select 'install zip from sd card' i just get a black screen. from there I can go back to the main red menu witht eh home button, but cant do anything else...

Are you using power key to select install zip?

Use the Back button to select.

nevermind, LOL. it uses my 'back' key to select NOT the home key. *grins sheepishly*
