Please direct me to link if this question already exists.

I have a droid 1 and talked my dad into getting a Droid X. He loves the phone except one thing with gmail. My Droid 1 will show the latest response to an email at the top. My dad's Droid X shows the latest at the bottom. Is there a setting to change this on the Droid X?

Droid X is stock with latest update
Gmail has latest market update
Gmail on PC shows conversations and email with newest response on top.
I know my way around my Droid very well but my dad and I are both newbies to the X.

Thank you for any help you can offer.

Does anyone have this problem? Should I be more specific? I cannot seem to find a definitive answer on this issue. Or is this just how it is on the DX?

P.S. Thanks for moving this thread. I didn't know where it should go.

Interesting. I wasn't aware Droid 1 performed that differently. But I'm sorry, I'm not aware of any setting for this. I'll poke around some and see.

Yeah I'm not sure if this is a DX thing or gmail. I have read that some people do not have this problem on their DX. Basically I wanted to find out if this is how gmail works on the DX or is this a gmail thing? Matreyu do you have to scroll down the email string to see the most recent reply at the bottom?

That is odd. Gmail is a stand alone app. It shouldn't have any thing to do with the X. The gmail app on droid 1 should behave exactly the same way as it does on the X, as long as they are the same version. All my new mail/responses appear at the top. I don't see why your Dad's will show up at the bottom. There doesn't seem to be a setting to change it in the app.

Could it be a setting on your gmail account? Maybe your dad has priority indox feature enabled and that's what is causing problems. Another thing you could try is to reinstall gmail.

I agree. Gmail should behave the same on any android phone. I have checked his gmail account settings, factory reset the phone and cannot find a reason why this is happening. I don't think priority inbox is on. I will check everything again to be sure. At this point we are considering returning the phone but that is a last ditch effort and probably wouldn't work anyway. I will try to report back after the New year.

Thank you for your help and Happy New Year.

I turned off IMAP within the gmail account settings and now the newest replies are on top. Although, when i delete emails from the phone they also delete them from the google gmail account. I think this is due to the new archive feature, not sure though. This I can live with but would still like the only emails to delete from the phone.

when you sync your phone with the gmail account it brings up any new emails, and moves any emails that were deleted to the trash bin on both the phone and on the pc.
essentially the phone is just like using any other pc.
