Please help with tethering.

Using MetroPCS unlimited 4G-LTE data plan. LG Motion.

I installed Foxfi, and did everything necessary to successfully tether my PC.

The problem is that only Google related pages are showing up. And YouTube is running extremely slow. If I try to go to other sites such as this one or anything that isn't related to Google, I get error.

I have 4G-LTE connection so I figured everything would be nice and fast like having a high speed land line. What do I do? How to fix this?

Are you tethering over wifi or usb mate? I know wifi will limit the speed a bit but even on my crappy 3g data i can tether and play youtube

thanks. its through usb. my pc doesn't have a wifi card. just regular network port. so i plug my phone in2 the usb.

if i can get it working right do u think I'll be able 2 play online games on my pc? like StarCraft.

My speed is MetroPCS 4G-LTE. I thought that's supposed to be really high. But idk. I can't tell. I know about internal speeds on land line like 6Mbps is good enough to play perfectly with little or no lags. Is there a way to check what speeds I'm getting on my phone?

DSLReports online speed test gives speed and latency. No app required.
iPhone speedtest

I'm stumped about your problem. I used to use FoxFi on Sprint (back when FoxFi was a free app). There was no Google-URL-only limitation by Sprint or FoxFi.

Once FoxFi started charging, I switched to the free app called "WiFi Tether" (by Muller, Buxton, Lemons, et al). Again, no limitation on destination URLs.

Either FoxFi (unlikely) or MetroPCS (more likely) seems to be limiting your destination URLs. It's really hard to imagine.

so it turns out facebook does work. anything that starts with https. but that's it. i had to go into developertools to activate the agent user as android phone. and pages were pulling up pretty normal. but still can't figure out what's going on or whatever my carrier is doing or how to get around it.

There's a company called Clear that works really well. Some people I know use it. My friend has it, and all his online games run perfectly with it. Clear has a 4G network using its own independent towers. Not towers from major carriers.

They charge $50 for the wifi hotspot unit that has a 6-hour battery life. Then $50 per month for unlimited 4G data.

So you connect the PC to that unit. Then you have nice 4G internet speed goes up to 6Mbps for the PC.

That's what I've been trying to do with my cell phone. It gets 4G-LTE which is supposedly faster than 4G. That way my PC would be able to access the internet without a problem. And I can play all the online games, watch YouTube vids, and download whatever I want.

Thus far, it hasn't been working. So I might just pay the $50 per month for the Clear deal. Then downgrade my cell phone plan to $40 which gives unlimited talk/text/data (first 500MB at 4G-LTE).

The total will be $30 more than what I'm paying now per month for 4G-LTE off my phone and barely nothing off my PC when connected to my phone.
