Root Please Help! Won't boot! Bricked!?!

So I rooted my phone and I was trying to use Odin to get it back stock, but something happened while Odin was running and now I can't boot my phone at all. When I try to get it on I get a picture of a phone connected to a computer with dots and an exclamation point in a triangle in the middle:

(phone)..!..(computer)

Is there anything I can do to recover or am I completely screwed?

please please please help....

Apparently I should be able to get into download mode with button combinations, but no combination has helped me yet. I've tried holding vol +/- and power, just - and power, just + and power...I've tried holding down vol +/- and power until the screen goes black and letting go of power......is there a button combination that I might try to get me there?

Yes. I read the thread the reinbeau posted, and I've read about thirty other threads all saying to boot into download mode and use Odin, but the problem is, I cannot for the life of me into my phone into download mode, maybe I am just not pressing the buttons in the right combination, but as far as I can tell, I'm golding both the volume up and volume down keys when I press and hold power. Then I get the phone..!..computer signal instead of download mode.

Thanks in advance you all for your concern and help.

NOTE: I was able to get into download mode once and before I started having this problem. I rooted, returned to stock with Odin, rooted again in an attempt to load a Froyo ROM. Tried to get back to stock with Odin (was having trouble flashing Serendipity, wanted a clean root) when Odin froze and I began receiving the ! screen.

Also: when I first put my battery in and connect my phone via USB, before I press any buttons, the symbol comes up. When the I hold the vol +/- power button combo, the screen goes black for 1 second, then the symbol reappears. I've tried releasing the power button during that second of blackness as seemed to be the fix for some Vibrant users. However, no button press/release or usb plugging/unplugging seems to be waking up my Cappy.
 
Ok, try this...

First, open Odin one click on your computer

2. Plug the usb into your computer, but do NOT plug your phone in yet.

3. pull your battery and then replace it

4. hold in the up and down volume buttons

5. while holding the up and down volume buttons, plug in phone to the computer
 
The Odin 1-click "stock" flash is known to have problems and cause certain batches of phones to lose the 3-button method.
 
I actually asked a question over on XDA about that 'loss of three button combo' and how to avoid it. Seems it depends on the batch number of your phone.

That is probably what was preventing me from accessing download mode with the hardkey buttons......however........

GREAT NEWS! My phone is alive and kicking, and I owe everything to the good people on the forums, and more importantly to TheBeano on XDA forums for this post [HOWTO] [REF] Get Download Mode without 3-button combo using homemade JIG - xda-developers

This method takes a little tinkering, but if you are receiving the phone!pc screen, this will work. It requires a steady hand a soldering iron, but well worth the time. Once I plugged in the jig, download mode booted (without having to hit any buttons...even power) and Odin flashed me back to life.

atlaswingpasaway has some videos on youtube of this method working for the Vibrant, and now I can confirm that it has worked on a Captivate.

Thanks again to everyone who gave me advice and information, and I hope I won't have to make a new thread for the next problem I encounter:p
 
You just do what you need to do in threads and posts here when it's something this critical.
