Just got my motorola xoom mz601 (3G and wifi) two days ago and there are some troubles face me and I would like to consult you:

1. I put sd card in the device and the android cannot recognize it, it does not even appear in the storage section in the settings menu, I downloaded the application called astro and it shows the sd card as it is empty.

2. While typing an email or a message there are no arrows shown any where in the keyboard that allows me to move the typing curson left, right, up or down, moving it by touching the screen and dragging is horrible and not practical at all, is there any keyboard app. I may get to solve this issue? Or it is in the default keyboard and I cannot get it?

3. Usually I like to play songs on you tube while doing other stuff, when I tried to minimize you tube, the song stops, any idea how to keep videos on you tube running while doing something else?

Thanks in advance

hi,

1. there is a 3.2 update for the xoom that adds SD card support. however, and not to try and confuse you, the card can only be READ from. apps needs to be updated to take advantage of the r/w access of the SD card. so patience is needed here for write access. you can read from it but you need to make sure you have 3.2. go to your about tabe and click check now for updates...

2. you can connect a BT mouse or keyboard w/trackpad to the xoom and have more control of the mouse/cursor on screen.

3. i do not think that is allowed on the xoom. when you minimize on the xoom, the app moves to the background and therefore stops being the focus.

1. In addition to what Marctronixx said, you said you have the 3G model, which means you don't (as far as I'm aware) have access to the 3.2 update. Which means you can't use the SD card at all (unless you want to learn about rooting your Xoom). Rumors I've heard are that Verizon might release the 3.2 update for us in mid-August.

2. I'm used to Evo3g and the lack of arrows on my Xoom keyboard is a hassle when I need them. There are however alternative keyboards you can download from the Android market which will run instead of the 'stock' keyboard which comes with the Xoom, and I bet some have arrows. I'm not familiar with any of them because I'm too lazy to bother. Do a Google search "android alternative keyboards" and find one you like that has arrows. And report back here if you find a good one :)

3. What Marctronixx said. However, you can load up your Xoom with mp3s and they can play in the background while you do other stuff.

Thank you

1. Indeed I have checked from through (check for os update) and it said that the device is up to date and does not need any os update, although the current os is android 3.0 honeycomp, I do not know why as having 3g should not deprive me from updating my os to the new version.

2. I actually tried looking in the market and I have tried about three alternative keyboards and they were all do not have navigation arrows unfortunately (: , I will keep looking and if I found one I will report it here.

3. I did not load it with music till now, but good to know that it will work in the backgroud.

yes i glossed over the fact you are on 3G. apologies.

you should however have 3.1. you mentioned you were on 3.0.
Thank you and never mind

The exact current version of my android is 3.0.1, system update status says it is the latest update.

I will check again from android and motorola websites.
