Help Please Help!!!!

ok so i mistakenly turned my galaxy s fascinate off during an update. what happened was i was doing the whole system update thing and it went dark and restarted ( no big deal) then it appeared with the all black samsung screen ( again no big deal) but it remained on that screen for about twenty minutes and i got worried and believed it was merely frozen so i removed the battery and figured by putting it back it would reset and i'd be back in business. well now the phone continues to turn on and remain on the black samsung start up screen and that's all. i left it on and it's been there for the past hour. what do i do to get my phone back to normal!?!?!?!?!?!?!!?!??!
