Ok, so I recently flashed ICX on my R800i. It has been restarting itself CONSTANTLY! After much research I found that it has something to do with user data that was not wiped.
Can anyone explain what to do to fix this problem? i.e. How to wipe data then flash a rom properly?
Depending on which kernel you're on, spam either the back button or volume rocker (i think, not 100% sure) to enter recovery & do a "factory data wipe" / wipe data/cache/davlik cache.
Or if you put your phone into fastboot mode, you can do the following

fastboot erase cacheit didnt work, so then i did that AND reinstalled ICX then the kernel.
BUT instead of turning off constantly it now turns off occasionally....am i doing something wrong?

Could be a problem with ICX, I'm not 100% sure, there never was a working port for the R800x (my phone.)
Find a copy of a 4.x ftf to return to stock using flashtool.

the thing with flashtool is that it identifies my R800i, but when i try to flash it says: "Disconnect-> Power off-> Hold down back key and plug into computer.
I'm guessing it's looking for fastboot mode. The only trouble is that no matter how many times i try to do this, it never continues from there
I meant flash mode, but I don't know how to enter flash mode
I've tried holding:
back/search/power/volume down/rapid pressing volume down/both volume buttons

when you see the pop up with the phone drawing, unplug your phone from usb, power off your phone, then hold BACK key first button on the left of your xperia play, then while holding it plug back the usb cable that will enter your phone into fastmode
