Hello and welcome Starr777!
Do I understand correctly when I say that your friend can hear thru the earpiece on a call but the other calling party cannot hear your friend? As in, the microphone does not work?

The whole phone fell in the water? You know the phone might work just for a while and then turn off forever? Water damages might be tricky at the beginning. I would suggest to turn the phone off, take the battery out and dry it off in a rice bag for a few days, if it's not too late. Samsung won't fix it under warranty, though.

The rice typically works if you pull the phone out of the water immediately, but I wouldn't hold out hope that will fix it -- especially since you've been using it since then. More than likely, the moisture still remaining in the phone has shorted out some circuits.

Yeah agree. 48 hours rice immediately after submersion otherwise little hope. Power on before rice, no hope.

Yeah I had my Droid Incredible go through the wash. I put it in rice for days, but couldn't manage to get all the moisture out. It still lasted a couple more weeks for me, but that was it.

OP - you may try to fix it, but water damage can also cause progressive failure. I would recommend cashing in on insurance if your friend has it. Hate for you to spend money to fix one problem, only to have the rest fail shortly after that...
