So I'm in dire need of help.. My girlfriend was getting ready for work yesterday and when she tried to turn on the, it went black. Tried to turn on her S4 it vibrated yet did nothing. The initial thought was that the phone is hard bricked. She doesn't have the technological mind to root a phone, let alone know what that means. All she knows is the pictures of her family, vacations and everything else very close to her is gone. She's devestated. Anyone know how this could have happened to her? Yet more importantly does anyone know a way we can recover those priceless photos. No she does not have an sd card, nor any external storage. Please help!

OK, so is there any power going to the device when connected to a charger? What LEDs (if any) are displayed? If there's no LEDs or power going to the device try another cable/charger.

Nothing is turned on, there's power in the device.. It kinda just seems like the operating system crashed.. It happens often with people who try to root their phines

When connected to a charger does the led work? Is it able to accept a full charge? (green LED)

When placing the battery back in and Turning the phone on, the Samsung Galaxy S4 introduction logo comes up, then goes black

Doesn't really answer my question I'm afraid. Can you boot into Download or Recovery Mode, as per the video link in my previous post?

Don't really care about the phone, I just desperately need the photos back, and by recovering the system in the aforementioned way I could do so?

Wiping the cache partition, as directed, providing you can boot into Recovery Mode, is your best option.

Read on another forum of quite a few with what sounds like the same problem. If you place the battery in your phone and it boots without you pressing any button your power switch is stuck. If it does this tap the side of the phone on a hard surface to free it
