Totally stock phone....installed ICS yesterday. Woke up this AM to a Spectrum going haywire! Dialing the number of someone I called yesterday, dialing another number, as I heard two different voicemail systems answering in the background, vibrating, apps trying to open, totally out of my control. I had to yank the battery to get it to stop.

Really don't want to see this happening again.

Did you reset your phone after the update?

yeap, confirmed that it is not global unlocked, try with overseas gsm simcard and not working. with phone info apk, can not set it to gsm/wcdma also.

The global update for the Rezound is still not released months after ICS, so it could be something that will come later . There's an LTE toggle app in the Play Store that apparently works. I don't recall the name .

WORKING GREAT!! it works.. :D

1. I try the root tools given above
2. I dont see any superuser icon on your spectrum
3. I try SuperOneClick v2.3.3.0.. it said my phone was rooted
4. Signing in to playstore, search superuser, downloading, installed (SuperSU icon on my spectrum)
5. updating binary > failed
6. Installing SETCPU done...

Antutu Benchmark score is 5323

hope this will help

CREDITS to Bin4ry from XDA

Confirmed working on Ubuntu 12.04 for all you Linux people.

I used neph's tool and just pushed it to my phone. So far, so good... I liked the leak, before it started going wonky on me, so I'm happy. It was slow to get up to speed, probably dalvik related, but it's smooth. Gmusic was stuttering, so hopefully that goes away, but other music apps are fine.

Battery life is MUCH better so far. Usually on my commute, my phone would be @ 50

So, now i have 2.3.6 rooted and CMW installed. Do i need to unroot and uninstall CMW first before updating to ICS?? And how to uninstall CMW. I can unrrot using the allinone, but i dont get how to remove CMW

Thanks

The upgrade will fail if the phone is anything other than 100% stock.

There's a thread in the all things root section on how to go back to full stock. You're not really going to be able to convert to stock, you're going to end up having to wipe it completely. So back up your data first.

Rules for taking the ota:

1. You must be on stock rom.
2. You must have all system apps installed (frozen is ok).
3. You must be on the stock recovery.

If you don't have all 3, the ota will fail and you'll be a sad panda. You can still use the tool Neph made to push it to you phone (that's what I did).

If you need to restore stock rom, search the forum... You can flash one or use neph's tool to restore it.

If you need system apps, you should reflash stock... Reinserting system apps might cause problems.

If you need stock recovery,, search This forum... It's referenced several times.

The easiest way, Imo, is to download the v7 cab (posted in a few threads), use neph's tool and restore your phone that way. Took me 5 mins.

I have. Still trying to find things that changed or got lost. Initially, right after the ICS install, I was prompted and asked if I wanted the % of battery life in the toolbar. I chose yes, and liked it. Now it's gone and I can't figure out how to get it back. There are several things like this. Can't get rid of the charging animations either, although I have them turned off.

Could someone post a link to Neph's tool? I'm still trying to get my brothers Spec updated and we're out of data for a few days. Possibly a link to the V7 cab as well? thanks

Settings > Power saver > Scroll down to Battery percentage checkbox

i had the hardest time trying to do the upgrade.... i ended up taking the files after they downloaded from the update tool and using the kp500 method ... now on to root....

Hey all..I've been following this thread as all of us have regarding the Spectrum OTA ICS update. It has been a long time coming!!! Anyhow, I'm now running the official released ICS version 4.0.4 on my Spec as of around noon today. I used to Verizon Upgrade Assistant...it said there was an upgrade available, started downloading it (it was over 500MB), installed in about 7-8 minutes and all is fine! In settings/about phone it shows software V7 and android ver 4.0.4.

I also Got my Spec rooted as well. I used part of the "jcase" instructions for the Spec and just ran the following:

adb shell

$ rm /data/vpnch/vpnc_starter_lock
$ ln -s /data/local.prop /data/vpnch/vpnc_starter_lock
$ exit

adb reboot

adb wait-for-device shell

$ echo 'ro.kernel.qemu=1' > /data/local.prop
$ exit

Then I used the AllInOnePackageSpectrum Root@Recovery AIO tool and chose selection 1 for root. It did it's thing and now my phone is rooted as well! Checked and verified with Root Checker Basic app.

Just be sure that phone is is debugging mode each time its rebooted (I had to change mine manually each time).

Sweet!

This worked flawlessly

someone asked if anyone could take a picture of a line of people. Of course me with my spec and panoramic said yes. All of a sudden I hear, YOU HAVE AN IPHONE 5?!?!?!?... How come Google never promoted panoramic to sell all these devices, it really worked for Apple. anyways, it was quite an awkward situation telling them I don't and that android has had this feautre for quite some time. anyways, good deed of the day done because someone said that my phone was beautiful and that they were never going to get an iPhone if they make another phone soon. my response was, "don't worry."

Because android is for nerds and geeks that like to hack and customize... Gimmicks like that panoramic camera have no place on an Android phone. Leave that for the apple fan boys that are more into having white earbuds than a unique phone with amazing potential.

well said. I just think it's funny, i obviously don't want them to promote that.
