Hey Everyone,

Thank you for your time, me and my small team are just about to release an android app for andorid phones` cleaning and maintainance. This app will be the terminator of android caches and residual files, and turns out to be the realsense of one- tap solution for your phones lol
So, I`ve got this problem of naming one of our function taps, basically this function is for boosting memory of android phone by killing running tasks. We`ve done several versions beta test and got feedbacks on the name of this function, ppl may prefer "Memory Boost" rather than "Task Killer" We`re really kinda confusing on this coz we`re from China we know little about other cultures& usages,so pls kindly help me out on this, pls?

Below is the alternative options for naming the function, pls leave your choice below and a breif explainations will be highly appreciated
Or if you`ve got better options it`s also highly welcomed

1. Task Killer
2. Memory Boost
3. Memory Optimization
4. Task (?)
5. Others(Pls provide your suggestions)

Thank you so much in advance!

Since Task Killers are pretty much proven to cause as many or more problems then they erroneously try to solve ... how about ...

..... that`s a good one...

It`s really sad that ppl get depressions on Task Killers...
While i think we shouldn`t lose hope on the fact even though we all know it`s tough.. so i`ll assume you`re against "Task killer" and pro for other options?

How about memory boost?

My description would be "spanner in the works" you could even animate it.
The app is maybe written by and definately aimed at android noobs and thinks it can improve on google's version of android by throwing in a big clunky spanner/wrentch.
please stop trying to frighten the average user into using this kind of crapware!
im so jealous that i cant code and youre wasting that tallent on something obsolite! :(

I totally agree with you, while sometimes not everything is up to you,I`m also not supposed to bit the dust here, so please be kind on the naming only coz i`m not the one who roll the dice, thanks for your understanding. :)

Can I just clarify what we are talking about here? Do you mean an interface which lets you select and terminate individual tasks? Or do you mean a button that let's you manually kill all running tasks? Or do you mean an app which will run in the background automatically killing tasks?

The first of those I'd call a "task manager". It's just an interface to let you do what the android system menus allow anyway, just a bit more convenient.

The second is a manual task killer. I'd not use it myself, but it's relatively harmless, since it only operates when the user feels the need (may encourage bad habits, but that's all). If that's what you have in mind I'd probably go with "task killer" or "kill all tasks".

The third is an automatic task killer, and that's the thing that people here are reacting badly to. Those are really not a good idea, but if you are contracted to provide that then I'd suggest just calling it a "task killer" rather than trying to disguise what it is by calling it something else. Experienced android users will advise against using such things, but they will also do that whatever it is called (I always take the phrases "memory booster" or "memory optimiser" to be euphemisms for "task killer" anyway).
