Perhaps trying to steal some of the thunder from the many announcements scheduled for that day at Europe's Mobile World Congress, AT&T will release its HTC Inspire 4G Android handset on February 13th, according to someone familiar with the plans. The CES-debuted Inspire will only cost $99.99 on contract, after a $50 mail-in rebate. With most high-end hardware launching at around the $200 mark, we have to wonder if the relatively low price is a tacit admission that this model is a rebadge of last fall's Desire HD -- whose aging specs would have trouble going up against Motorola's Atrix 4G and Samsung's Infuse 4G on an even playing field. Atrix is also expected in February, although it's not clear when Infuse will ship. All three models will have to compete with four LTE-capable smartphones from Verizon in the near future as well.

So, I've been lurking for a little while looking to drop my iPhone for this or the Atrix, and I felt that it was time to join the fun. Hello! Anyways, I gotta ask...aging technology? They make it sound as if it's gonna be slow and doomed to failure. Is this a possibility?

No there just tools they want you to buy the next big thing. DUAL Core for me personally that means nothing

Ah.....The "latest and greatest" sheep device! Lol

It would be fantastic to see this drop on the 13th along with the Atrix, but it'll be really hard deciding which to get. Decisions, decisions.

$200 for a one year contract and then we will see where we are with the whole 3g/lte situation and what ever additional tegra 2/tegra 3, android 2.3+ phones come out from someone who ISN'T samsung or motorola in March of 2012...

sounds like a plan to me....

That's what im doing. Inspire on feb 13 and november when my upgrade comes the biggest baddest HTC LTE phone

Mmmmmm.... well played. Wonder if att will hook me up with an early upgrade, as I'm technically not due til March. I also wonder if it can be done for a year instead of two.

Your good brother one month they will push it.up

One month? They actually let you do the upgrade 3 months ahead of time (if im not mistaken).

My contract is April (i think) and im already showing as eligible.

Do they do extra perks for long time customers who have had high rate plans in the past? i see people complaining about AT&Ts customer service and every time i have a request..they pretty much roll out a red carpet for me and bring refreshments....

If your the primary its usually up to 6 months before

My contract is over in August but my upgrade is eligible in March. I'm hoping they give me an early advanced on the upgrade so I can pick this up. It will be my valentines day present to myself. :D

DOH!

So i have been hanging on to this 3GS longer than i should have. Truth is i was kinda waiting to see what iphone 5 was before i bought the Gtab, decided i liked having andorid/sd card/adobe flash (for news clips) better than having a few more apps and netflix on a tiny 3.2 screen....

Long story short.....getting one of these new AT&T 4g android phones...BRAND NEW IDEA pretty much last week....
