I'm keeping it! I really like the phone. My down has been around 2mbps and up is just under 300kbps. I believe that they'll get that worked out. I actually have the 4gb tethering plan. My issue was with the cell signal I get at the house. Had the same issue with my iPhone 3gs. I only get 1 bar and have to walk down the driveway to be able to have a slightly reasonable call. Sooooo, I figured I had a little leverage as I am just under my 30 day period. Went to the AT&T store yesterday and told them I wanted a 3g Microcell for free. They said I had to call customer service. Went home, called them, got a nice lady that was working with sales, somehow got passed onto someone else (I think because of the wait), she was rude and told me I had to go back to the store. Went back to the store. Asked to speak with the manager, nice fellow, and.... He left for a good while, came back with a 3g Microcell in hand for FREE. Worked out well. The Microcell did the trick. I have 5 bars and calls have never been better.

Did I say I really like the phone :D It's a beast. I went from an iPhone to a Blackberry Curve (work provided it for me). Work opened up the e-mail system so I figured I'd give the Atrix a go. Still a little overwhelmed with all the features and apps :o Having fun though!

Returned my Atrix today. Hats off to Radio Shack, no restocking fee, very polite service. Just ask if i cared to tell them why, My reasons are, Locked bl, the throttled data (I was paying for 4g not poor 3g), phone auto shutoff 4 times in the last week, lack of real mirroring , phone not LTE compatable, (Yes i knew this before i purchased the atrix but now with Att buying Tmobile this is more important to me. Motoblur, an i really tried to get the camera to take a decent pic. Ill be getting the Optimus 2x April 20.

Well, one point you are wrong on.... you don't pay for a set data speed. You aren't paying for 4G data, you are paying for "data." No speed tied to the terms. You pay the same regardless of if it's EDGE, 3G, or 3.5G (I REFUSE to call what any carrier has to offer 4G, it's NOT, they watered down the requirements!!!). At home, I'm lucky to get EDGE, at work, it's 3G, they've not even turned up a 3.5G (Nope, not gonna call it 4G!) tower within 50 miles of me.... yet, I pay the same for data you do.

As for the buying of T-Mobile... It will probably go through. But, we've seen the FTC and the FCC butt heads on letting deals like this happen. FCC says it's good, FTC says it creates a monopoly. Who knows what will happen.

Honestly, I've been extremely pleased with the camera. Some of the first pic's were blurry, but then I found there was a little, clear, anti-scratch sticker over the lens from the factory. I peeled that off, wiped it clean, and the pic's all turn out fine now.

I have to agree regarding the camera. At first, I was disappointed but I learned to not use the auto scene.

I just returned from a week long vacation where I took tons of pics and video. I am very happy with the results. My lighting ranged from bright outdoors to dark indoor aquariums. It's no DSLR, but, the pics are great.

I'm still on the fence. Does anyone have a realistic idea of the download speeds we can expect when the backhaul is complete? People keep mentioning the capped uploads but people with 3G phones are still getting faster downloads than most of us.

Living and working near NYC, I thought they'd have their "4G" speeds here but I guess not.

The phone is great but if im still going to be stuck with 3G speeds, my contract is up in june and their are rumors the atrix is going to sprint...and if not, verizon is getting the droid bionic which is similar enough.

I really didn't want to turn this thread into an argument... but after reading through this wall of text I couldn't leave it alone.

Why I returned mine the DAY AFTER

March 17th 2011 I was the first one at my local Bell store and got the Atrix with the labtop dock. Brought it home, played around with it and thought it was the BEST. I used the labtop dock and noticed that it you were able to stretch the phone's screen to any size, that was pretty cool. But then I also noticed that when you use any of the apps on the phone through the dock it SEVERELY impedes the performance of the Atrix. I loaded Angry Birds and found that it had a hard time running it, even if the mirrored screen was skewed to a smaller size. I then noticed that Motorola made NO effort to offer an "App killer", thus 70% of the phone's processorwas focused on running almost ALL the apps available on the phone in the background. After I finally got App Killer Pro on the phone, I was able to kill SOME of the apps. But after I opened a SINGLE game application, I noticed there were TONS of apps running in the background. This frustrated me to no end, the processor's speed was the same if not a little worse than other smartphones. I ran a few benchmarks on the Atrix and found that it only slightly came out on-top compared to other smartphones (Galaxy S's, HTC's etc..) in performance. But if you compare graphics, thats a whole different subject.
At first glance, if you haven't had a smartphone (with good display such as Galaxy S's or others), you wouldn't be able to tell whether the display was good or not. But after I took my brothers phone (Galaxy S Vibrant) and compared them side by side, I found that the display on the Atrix was TERRIBLE!! I couldn't believe how bad the display was on this phone. As a test, I loaded a downloaded HDTV xVID version of Simpsons onto the Atrix and my brother (with his Vibrant) STREAMED the same episode of Simpsons on his phone. Right away you could tell that the Atrix's display was grayish and horrible looking. Sure, the picture was KIND of clear, but nowhere clear enough to justify horrible picture. The Vibrant, although streaming from a website, still produced a better picture than the Atrix. In a second test we loaded the Vibrant with the HDTV xVID version and found that it was both CLEAR and had a beautifully colourful picture. For example, the skin colour of the Simpsons were GLOWING with bright yellow tones, whereas the Atrix produced a brown-ish colour of yellow. I was shocked. Perhaps the camera is good on the Atrix atleast? Nope. Not at all, the camera shoots poor video and captures very poor pictures. The flash only makes it WORSE.

Suppose you don't mind not having FULL "dual-core" processor speeds, and you don't mind a terrible camera or not having a good display (of which you'll be looking at for 90% of the phones usage), and you say that the Atrix has the cool labtop dock feature which NO other smartphone has. That's hardly a good argument. I bought the labtop dock for a whopping $329.95 (plus tax, which totaled to about $355.26 in Canada). In comparison, you could get a brand new labtop for that much with more than TRIPLE the computing power of the Atrix. But lets set that aside, and look at the labtop dock. ALL it does, is mirror the Atrix's screen and allows you to browse the internet without viewing through the mirrored screen. THAT'S IT. The dock has 2 USB ports, but thats ONLY for mouse and keyboard. You cant plug another cellphone device into it, you cant plug a USB Stick into it. You cant do ANYTHING with it.

Overall, the Atrix was a HORRIBLE purchase. The morning after I bought it brought it back as soon as I could, due to the fact that contracts are bound after 24 hours. Got $508.45 back from the $564.95 I paid for the Atrix and walked away with a Vibrant (a MUCH better phone, period).

1. Its a laPtop.

2. There is a task killer program loaded into the phone stock... its called Task Manager and it has worked just fine for me.

3. My old Captivate stock ran about 1000-1100 on quadrant. My Atrix stock, around 2500.

4. You are really exaggerating the screen comparison. I've compared them side by side. Yes, the galaxy s phones have glowing color. They are overly exaggerated colors... on purpose. I think the color accuracy on the Atrix is much more realistic and is probably a lot more easy going on your battery. Not every color on your screen is suppose to be glowingly bright at all times.

5. It takes pictures quite fine. I have yet to find a phone besides the iPhone 4 that takes pictures that are astonishingly better than my Atrix.

Again, not trying to start an argument. I just felt like a few of your statements needed some fair counterpoints. I do hope you enjoy your new phone. :)

Just got my Atrix, loving everything so far of it. Some of the complaints people have voiced, are not major for me so far, lol. So very happy with the purchase and happy to be back on team Android (BlackBerry sucks!)

I did vote to return it but it's not because of the over all performance of the phone.

There are a few things that tipped the scale but they are all personal preferences (Mostly).I feel the timing isn't there for myself to make a 2 year commitment after seeing what is on the immediate horizon. I might even been moving networks.... who knows?

I will say this:
The phone/software has made me an android fan.

The phone it self is fast even with some persevered "lag" it jumps screens way faster than my wife's iPhone4.

Network speed is NOT the phones fault. This is an AT&T problem imho.

I have NO problems with battery life.

Phone quality is outstanding and the whole metal vs plastic is kind of a strange argument since most people end up with a plastic case... And it does have a metal frame from what I have seen.

Speaker quality is there as well.

Its a lot of phone with a smaller package/frame. They made really good use of the footprint.

I am thoroughly enjoying this phone! After having an iPhone 3G for 2 years and watching others with their iPhone 4s, I decided to go a different route. Don't get me wrong, the iPhone 4 is a beautiful machine. I am one of those people who is stuck in the middle of the tech cycle. What would have happened if I got a 4 now and the 5 came out and it was a big leap from the 4? I would have been stuck in my 2 year cycle and not able to afford to step up (I am not paying full price for the phone) to the 5 until my 2 year cycle was up. Then again, what of the opposite happened and I wanted for the iPhone 5 and it wasn't any different from the 4? I would again be stuck in my two year cycle until the iPhone 7 (or whatever they'd call it) came out. I'm happy with my Atrix.

I'm happy with my Atrix.
Welcome to Android Forums, oolong! That's great to hear that you're enjoying your Atrix :) So far, I love my Atrix!!! I find Android a fun and exciting OS since you can customize it to such a drastic extent that no two Android phones are the same.

Cheers,
-Roze-
