[Poll] How many of you use Automatic Brightness?

I have been using the Hero with automatic brightness disabled for quite sometime, simply beause I've found that it doesn't do a good job of putting the screen at a brightness I am satisfied with. But I am thinking about enabling it...

I used to for a while but that's not the thing eating up my battery. Plus, I didn't like how dark the screen would get when I'd play with my phone in my dark room so I just have it set in between dark and really bright. Works great no matter the lighting

The auto brightness is probably the most annoying thing in the world too me. When I'm sitting at my desk my cieling light is above and behind me, if I learn over my phone my shadow will cause the phone to change in brightness. Ugh. I keep mine at 50% brightness with the brightness widget.

I have mine turned off. I keep mine at 9% -11% level and still bright for me. Only if I'm out side I have mine set b/w 50% - 75% bright level.

I'd suggest setting it to off and manually setting the brightness to 25% to 40% or so.

I'm tired of burning my retinas when I need to check something on my phone in the middle of the night. For some reason Automatic Brightness gets turned off when the phone sleeps and pegs my brightness at 100%, or if the box doesn't get unchecked, it just refuses to lower the brightness.

I think I'll finally turn it off & go with 50% or lower.

I use it, no complaints here except it uses a lot of battery, sometimes over 50%

I use it but it's getting annoying when it automatically disables it and I have to go back in and change it again.

I am in the same situation here. Although, for some reason, when I updated to Android 2.1 it disabled automatic brightness and I was left with the brightness at 100% for over a month before I finally subconsciously noticed that my screen was super bright.

I noticed a nice bump in battery life after I restored it back to automatic brightness. I do not see a problem with it at all.

Haha! I did the exact same thing only mine was for about two weeks or so. That 2.1 update did all sorts of crazy things though that had to be figured out, and I didn't even use the "official" one.

I love it. I used to keep my brightness at 30-40%, but since I changed to auto brightness, I have noticed less battery use.

I DID, before I purchased Tasker. Auto brightness sucks battery power and I find it's too bright in the night times, when I likes it dark.

Now with Tasker, the only app I've ever spent money on, I am MASTER OF THE UNIVERSE (or at least my phones battery usage) which has at least doubled. Now I'm not shaking to get my next electiricity fix. BOOOOOYA!
