Help poor audio from jack

I know there are posts about this, and I have found one about modding text files etc which ill look into.
Im new to android as I didnt like the way apple tie you down, and the way itunes let you do....nothing.

However, does anyone know if the sound is any louder when using a docking station plugged into an amp rather than using the audio jack. As via the jack I have to increase my amp by approx 15db more than anything else that goes into the amp.

Ive tried simple things like apps etc, but it looks like taking it down the road of rooting and changing a couple of things

I read someone saying the same thing and he ended ug buying a headphone amp to use between the phone and his mixer. I use an Equalizer widget and just put all the sliders up full. Have you tried that? With some custom kernels you can tweak the audio but not by much or you just get distortion :thumbup:
 
There are also volume boosting apps and equalizes in the Play Store. Volume+ was really popular with the Nexus crowd.
