Help Poor bass output

Anyone notice how there is no punch to the bass at all in the music player? Anyone using a good music players out there? My droidX had rockin bass stock with the bass boost on.

Bass seems pretty good to me. I'm assuming you already messed with the EQ and bass boost settings on the music player? I'm also using Klipsch Image S4 headphones. PowerAMP has worked well for me in the past, maybe look into that app.

I agree I thought it was pretty good.

You do realize that it takes ~12 feet for the actual wavelength of low frequencies to cycle? It also takes a good size speaker and magnet to move enough air volume to get low frequencies?

You simply are not going to get bass out of a phone and ear plugs.

I should have been clear, I have the phone hooked up to the car via aux. Its probably why you guys don't notice it. You will not hear it through headphones. Im telling you the DroidX phones have rockin bass. There is not punch regardless of EQ settings from this phone at all. In addition, when playing with the various dsp settings , jazz, rock etc it causes the phone to boot.

You aren't alone, I feel the same way and had the exact same issue as you had while adjusting the settings, happened twice in a row. I installed PowerAMP and will just have to store my music locally to get decent sound out of the Nexus for now at least. Hopefully this is something they can correct with a software fix.

I'm actually surprised by the thread. I just wrapped up an 80 mile car ride, and streamed through Google Music, Pandora, and Spotify the whole time. The audio output through my car with a stock Bose system was great, and identical to my Droid2.

I'm honestly not really sure how it would differ, since I doubt the Droid2 itself was really handling the audio output. It should have been the app.

Again, no perceivable difference for me, and two tracks I cranked were Otis and N****s in Paris, both of which have nice solid bass in my opinion.

After fooling with the stock player I accidentially shut the bass boost off and the bass was there! I couldnt believe it so the higher I slid the bass boost up the less bass there was. There is a bug in the stock music player, Bass boost actually works in reverse and the higher you put it up the more bass it cuts off. Try it.

Ill have to give that a shot and see if that works for me also. Would seem like a pretty big issue if it was actually reversed. Would think more people would be having a problem.

As a couple of other users have noted having poor bass response from the google play app, I am experiencing the same issue.

I currently have my galaxy nexus hooked up to my car stereo and while I use pandora, the whole car shakes accordingly but when I play a song from my google play library the bass in the sub is practically gone. Almost as if the 50-200hz range is not being output.

I've switched to stream high quality only and still experience poor bass response.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I noticed that disabling the equalizer improved bass quality for me.
