I too was fustratrated by POP email and all of the changes in behavior since the recent Andriod update 3.7 on/around December 15th...
having to delete emails manually from my phone was too much to handle..
I get quite a few emails everyday....
After extensive research...
I changed to IMAP instead of POP and now my emails is working as it used to.
The emails simply disappear once they have been downloaded to my computer..
all is well in EVO land again
