Root (Port) Behold 2 1.6 ( No Twiz w/ Busybox & Rooted Kernel )

I know this is kind of a long shot, but is there a way to enable the haptic feedback when scrolling the app tray like there was in the old stock TouchWiz tray and in the current TouchWiz menus?

Will i notice a big difference switching to warhead from 1.6 stock? Im debating on if i should just wait until one of the other projects BH_MAN is working on comes out before i decide to flash again.

Has anyone figured out which App is required for the "Favorite Contacts" shortcut on the Home++ Power Strip? It says that the application isn't installed on my phone.

I don't understand why Contacts wouldn't be an option for a shortcut on a home replacement designed for convenience and simplicity.
Anyone ever figure this out?

Favorite contacts is part of the stock dialer. The no twiz roms use the samsung dialer which doesn't have favorites and thus that feature doesn't work. The shortcut in home++ goes to that app.

I've used (in order) Galaxy R7, Galaxy R8, Stock 1.6, No-Twiz (original), and now am on No-Twiz (Warheads).

Stock 1.6 was by FAR the slowest.

No-TWiz (Original) is, from an end user standpoint, almost exactly like Stock 1.6, but much faster. I didn't use Twix or Dots, so I can't comment. I personally like the changes in Warheads over No-TWiz, but your milleage may vary.

Here's an update.

My phone has finally died. So, here I used it for 16 hours with moderate use and as you I noted above, I did not completely discharge it before recharging and I got 16 hours of use. Now, I am going to charge it fully and see what kind of day I have tomorrow. I am really impressed.

My wife is jealous because I have Google Navigation and she is still paying for Telenav. I wish I could find a good rom for her Motorola Cliq as solid as this 1.6 no Twiz. Although, I'm thinking about working on a ROM for it if no one else is.

Thanks BH_Man

Just wanted to let everyone know that I have started the 2nd full discharge after I charged up my phone to full. Took it off the charger at 9:15pm and it is already down to 89%.

Root seems to be holding up. So, how many times do you charge and discharge before the battery is trained. lol.

So I have finally tested everything on Warheads w/AdvancedLauncher Kernel Mod. Here are my findings....

1. The phone thinks it has plugged into a USB port on the wall charger. This is an intermittent problem. Just unplug and plug the phone back in.

2. The sleep mode is still an issue. Charging the phone while it is on will cause this to happen. However, If you power down the phone and power it back up after charging, the phone will sleep correctly. Sleeping correctly is defined as this.
-When the phone screen goes dark waiting 5 minutes will trigger the full sleep mode. Meaning that only the Cube, Power and Lock buttons will bring the screen back on to the lock screen.-

3. The phone will not sleep if the screen orientation is left in the horizontal position (wide screen) be sure and put the screen back to vertical before placing your phone down.

4. The mosaic function on the camera freezes the phone. You will have to force close and then "Kill" the app to get the camera to load again.

5. Root will not stay persistent. You will get the $ sign so often and using Better Term app will not let you gain access to root when in this state. You will have to use the ADB to root the phone. BH Man has the commands in the thread to do this.

6. The Android Market app will lose connection intermittently and FC, just push wait and it will return. It does get better after a while. Not sure why.

This is the best ROM for the Behold 2. I personally get 26 hours of battery with heavy use. WiFi on, 2 hours of Google Nav, 2 phone calls on speaker phone, 20 minutes each, 22 High Res photos, 17 text messages of which 4 where picture messages and 1 hour surfing the Android Market. The rest of the time was standby sitting on the kitchen counter.

If you charge the phone and leave it in standby with all services off (WiFi, Bluetooth, GPS) you will get 400 hours standby, 6 hours of talk, 3 hours of video playback and 3 hours of surfing the web. Not too shabby, out of the box specs state 600 hours standby. Some recommendations here. Follow BH Man's direction on charging the phone before you flash. Cycle the charge to full then discharge fully (phone shutting off by itself). Force cycling the battery by using a lot of power at once is not the best way to train the battery. Cycle the phone at least 3 times then use it normally before you decide that the battery or ROM has an issue. When using power hungry applications like Google Nav, plug the phone in. This will not shorten your battery life, LiOn batteries are good for not getting any "memory". Check with TMO, there where some battery issues (bad ones sent out) TMO will give you a new battery. When finished with any application, don't confuse the back button with shutting down the app. use the end button to shut down any application when you are done. Some apps will remain in memory but this is not bad. Get rid of any application killers that run automatically. Android uses its own built in app killer. In fact Android is somewhat smart and will anticipate what you need. If there is not enough memory to run, Android will shut down something. Weather apps are cool! but Weather Bug is a very hungry app. Use the default weather app that is installed with the Warheads Rom. Keep widgets to a minimum. Use shortcuts instead. Widgets will always check the status of the host application keeping the CPU running high, the higher the CPU runs the faster your battery will run down. When at all possible, use a WiFi connection if you notice you are on Edge, 3G is digital and uses less power. WiFi uses even less. I hope this will be useful for most. BH MAN deserves a big round of applause. He is smarter than he knows!

Possible bug on WH: GPS signal cuts out every 5 minutes and then reconnects. Not the end of the world, but it does get annoying when google navigation states it outloud when it happens.

Okay, I've tried and tried and I cannot get Odin to flash the phone. I'm running an older BH_Man ROM on the phone right now, but, as I understand it, that shouldn't matter where the Download Mode is concerned. Since I'm unsure where to start with the troubleshooting, I'm asking here for help.

Let's try a couple of things:

-Have you rebooted the system?
-Have you tried a different USB port?
-Have you rebooted the phone?
-What ODIN version are you using?
-What OS are you running?
-Do you have the driver posted on this web-site?
-Have you tried ODIN'ing any different roms?
-Have you tried ODIN'ing a kernel file instead of a ROM?

Good question!

I start the flashing process, the phone is detected and Odin says all is good, I start the bootloader file and it just sits there. It does nothing else. I waited an hour before I gave up, twice!
Before flashing, go to phone/settings/application/development & make sure usb is set for debugging mode.
If you are flashing DOTS:

Open Up ODIN Multi Downloader & CHECK DEBUG OPTION & PDA Format (FOR DOTS ONLY)
Click the OPS button and choose Behold2_partition.ops
Click the BOOT button and choose the BOOT md5 file, You will get error message" invalid image...," but ignore it. Do the same for the Phone & PDA files.
Turn off Phone.
Plug phone into USB.
Put phone in download mode (HOLD DOWN Vol Down + OK + END Button UNTIL DOWNLOADING DISPLAYS)
Wait till detected and press START.

SOME PEOPLE HAVE HAD TO FLASH EACH FILE SEPARATELY. OPS/BOOT THEN OPS/PHONE THEN OPS/PDA

IF DOING SEPARATELY, WAIT UNTIL ODIN SAYS PASSED. SCREEN WILL STILL BE STUCK ON BEHOLD SCREEN. JUST REMOVE BATTERY, WAIT A COUPLE OF MINUTES & FLASH NEXT ITEM. SAME THING WILL HAPPEN WITH SECOND ITEM. WHEN FLASHING PDA, IT WILL REBOOT PROPERLY.

If you are flashing WARHEADS:

Open Up ODIN Multi Downloader
Click the OPS button and choose Behold2_partition.ops
Click the PDA button and choose the PDA md5 file, You will get error message" invalid image...," but ignore it.

Turn off Phone.
Plug phone into USB.
Put phone in download mode (HOLD DOWN Vol Down + OK + END Button UNTIL DOWNLOADING DISPLAYS)
Wait till detected and press START.

THEN FOLLOW DIRECTIONS STATED ON THE FIRST PAGE OF THIS THREAD.
ENJOY THE ROMS.

Do not do this > Open Up ODIN Multi Downloader & CHECK DEBUG OPTION & PDA Format

In most Cases it will Hang ODIN when flashing all 3 files.

Ah that's a shame... I've gone back to Advanced Launcher... What I liked about Home++ was that power bar... is there a widget like that anywhere? I couldn't find one on the market, but maybe I was using the wrong search terms.

So when we push Advanced Launcher, does that overwrite Home++?

Okay guys, I'm pretty happy with the New Modded Kernel.... Now, I need a List of App's that Root was Failing on please... I want to Fully check before releasing

for me

Titanium backup
I have also been trying to test "Barnacle Wifi Tether"

for me

Titanium backup
I have also been trying to test "Barnacle Wifi Tether"

I tried Barnacle Wifi tether and was able to get root for it but again. The samsung kernel will not allow it to work for some reason. BH_Man may know the answer to that.

BH-man ... I think you should remove the script for the batterystats.bin , seeing that you can now do it from recovery .......
Also can you post the Framework-res.apk from the stock 1.6 BH2 here for me please ......

Ok.. the first time I tried the above instructions it worked! I just flashed warheads onto my wifes phone, followed the instructions exactly, but the menu still refreshes! I have tried reflashing, rebooting, I have even flashed back to stock, then reflashed up to warheads, all with no luck. My phone has really become a powerhouse thanks to BH_Man. I can hardley wait for the next update!! Thanks for any help!!

I use reboot now and it will lose root.

Also, has anyone tried editing a photo and saving it on the phone? I tried and it will not save it. So what's the point of having the samsung camera if the editing options don't work?
