Root (Port) Behold 2 1.6 ( No Twiz w/ Busybox & Rooted Kernel )

Sorry to sound noobish but I don't quite understand! What do you mean by "build the AOSP from source", which firmware is this?
I know what AOSP stands for, but how will this help?

You know, I could tell you to Research... But I'll be Nice.

AOSP 1.6 Source = Able to make Changes.

aaah I see! So it would be like completely customizable, and we wouldn't have to rely on galaxies 1.6. Therefore no sleep bug!!!!! I'm sorry I just wasn't thinking clearly! Does this include a fully customizable kernel as well? If so I'm excited! :D

what lol, recovery is where factory reset is located, it's a feature of "recovery"!!!

No need to be a jackass just wanted to now the difference from the settings on the phone like when you hit menu, settings,sd card phone storage,Factory data reset, from the recovery mode when you press the vol +,send, end buttons thats all. Just noticed tonight about a post of someone doing the recovery mode with the steps I provided thats all.

If you Have Flashed the New Recovery on any R* Galaxy rom's, the recovery is not going to work, as I've not added support for it yet..

I was being facetious. I thought I sounded absurd enough to not be taken seriously.

EDIT: Whilst changing the subject from the squabbling.

Hello All

I am a newbie in this and been reading the posts for the last month or so.

I have installed donut-R7, BH-MAN no Twiz with no issues.

I decided to partition my sd card following the tutorial video with no issues.

Yesterday I finally decided to install wareheads and it installed with no issues but will not boot my system it hangs and the screen goes blank. When I remove the sd card then it boots fine.

According to the threads that I read I should do this

adb shell
cd system/sd
rm -r dalvik-cache
rm -r app-private
reboot

or as paul89 suggested
adb shell
cd /system/sd/app-private
rm -r *

None of these are fixing the issue. I am puzzled and do not know how to fix this.

any help is appreciated

thanks

You can do the above steps when the phone is on the Android screen.
It will reboot and boot up fine.

Do it like this EXACTLY:
At anytime you get the Black screen, you Can do this from adb shell!

1. Boots & goes to black screen
2. Plug usb into computer
3. Open a Command prompt
4. adb shell
5. cd /system/sd/app-private
6. rm -r *
7. cd /system/sd/dalvik-cache
8. rm -r *
9. reboot

First time flashing a phone...WOW, too easy BH Man! Thanks for the hard work, just flashed with your ODIN instructions. Looks great and now have access to 1.6+ apps/functionality!

The baseband is either the bootloader or the phone I'm not sure which one. He only modified the PDA. You will know if you got Home++ as your default home:D

Thanks for your answer.

I know what I have on my machine, because I installed it. I was wondering if there is a version number or version name of the PDA, that can be read off of the device itself.

If I understand correctly, the new BOOTLOADER and PHONE are released by T-Mobile? If I want to install older PDAs, do I need to install older bootloader and phone as well?

BH_MAN I downloaded the new kernal and it is just a file. no ext. odin doesnt recognize it. Please help

You do NOT need to unzip/unrar the downloaded kernel.tar file, simply point the PDA section of ODIN to this compressed file and flash normally as if you are flashing a new rom.

Dont forget the OPS file (from Warheads) too and leave the debug only box UNCHECKED.

No you don't need to install Older BOOTLOADER and PHONE if switching to older builds.. They work Fine even with 1.5 :D

It's already to flash regarding ODIN, all you have to do is load it into the PDA & .ops then hit start.

Running WarHeads, 16.5 hours of up time and still 39% battery left (with light-moderate usage). Only problem I'm having is the app drawer refreshing (and occasionally freezing) every single time since I flashed the kernel. I only started having the problem when I flashed it (and all of the settings are correct, lazy load is unchecked), and no amount of reboots has fixed it. Any suggestions?

Everytime you reboot the phone, go to 'Menu' -> 'Settings' -> 'Applications' -> 'Manage Applications' -> 'Home++' -> 'Force Close'

Nothing seems to happen, simply exit the 'Settings', Home++ will automatically relaunch itself and the app drawer will no longer refresh when you access it.

This is until the next reboot.

Therefore, do the above on the start of every reboot if you do not wish to have an on demand refreshing app drawer :D

you can alway push TwLauncher.apk. This removes Home++ which is causing the refresh problem.

I will say that I like the Home++ ui, if my battery didn't get drained so much I would use it. I downloaded it on my sons G1 and it drained it's battery quickly too. So, I think once the bugs are worked out of it I will start using it again.

Also, on the third full charge I got 17 hrs of use. not bad. I am still going to purchase another battery and see if it is better.

I pushed the twlauncher.apk when it first came out and instead of replacing the home++ it had both advance launcher and Home ++ i have to physically go in with Astro and remove the home ++ loader. I also duplicated the process of installing Advance Launcher but putting the update Kernel and pushing Twlauncher.apk to my phone. Make sure you boot up in Advance Launcher before trying to Delete the Twlauncher.apk for Home ++. Hope this helps... The file location is under System/App/twlauncher.apk. Make sure you are deleting Twlauncher for Home ++ for there will be two and one is for advance launcher. Hope this helps.

@BHMAN, How can I remove the Stock Android email app and replace with the Samsung one? I tried uninstalling (failed), so I deleted the Email.apk and pushed the SamsungEmail.apk and .odex from the TWIX release to system/app. That didn't work so I renamed them to Email.apk and odex (respectively) and it still doesn't work (black screen in both cases). I really need the Exchange access from the Samsung version, so any help is appreciated.

Thanks for your help, awesome work on this ROM

K-9 doesn't support newer exchange servers it appears, which is what my company uses, but the Samsung email app did... could someone please outline how to properly get the Samsung email app onto Warheads (assuming its possible)?

Thanks.

Edit: Should I post this in another thread?

First things first, BH_Man, you are a god. been using your roms since i got my bh2. warheads is awesome, but i did replace home++ w/ gde renamed to twlauncher.apk. phone runs real nice w/ gde. maybe an idea for future releases. gde w/ BH_Man "special" touches. anyways, you are doing an awesome job, thank you.

Why have BH_MAN waste time adding alternative homes when we can simply push the apk our self if we want, let him focus on the issues/speed of the rom. Not the look.

We are fully capable of skinning and changing homes if we want.

Aside from the refresh problem, I really like the look, feel, and performance of Home++ running with WarHeads, and I'm sure BH_MAN picked it for a reason. FCing Home++ after each reboot is manageable. Looking forward to the AOSP or 2.1, I don't think I'll change again until then.

i would in no way ask him to "waste" his time adding in other launchers. i appreciate the work that he does. but, did he not go to a different launcher than what he previously used. i was not suggesting that he change launchers again, just tossing it in the air. BH_Man, thank you again for the work that you do, i will continue updating to your newest releases.

Any word on the hybrid BH man? You got us all excited :-P If I remember correctly, last you said was the phone was crashing or something?

Hey, I just wanted to let you guys know that I was about to the breaking point with this phone. With Warheads, the dialer's lagging and locking was really starting to grind my gears...BUT, I am thrilled to report that reflashing with the updated kernel did the trick--it is so much more responsive now, and the dialer no longer hangs during or after calls. Heck, even my voicemail works now!

BH_MAN, you are awesome.

(I know that this had been posted before, I just wanted to vouch for its effectiveness)
