Root (Port) Behold 2 1.6 ( No Twiz w/ Busybox & Rooted Kernel )

moderate use from me. around 50+ SMS a day. an hour using wifi, around 20min call, and playing with the phone.

on the stock BH2 1.5 im getting around 7hrs on a single charge! i can see the battery level going down

TuneWiki is cool, but there is an updated version in the market. It doesn't update the stock one. So, now I have 2 versions installed.

any ideas guys?

BTW. im having an amazing battery performance with this ROM. with the 1.5 BH2 no twiz im gettign around 19hrs on a single charge with moderate use. now im already at 19hrs but with 70% left. very good performance and bat life. oh and i flash when my bat is around 92% i guess il be having more if i flash the phone on full charge. :D

Glad to hear that others are experiencing better battery life. I was one of those that was experiencing sad battery performance. I have warheads installed with Advanced Launcher and updated kernel. Currently 12 hours mod use and 82% battery left. Outstanding! What really helped with me is removing Home++, and charging the battery over night then rebooting the phone. The sleep mode does not work correctly after being on a charger. So rebooting helps get this back in line. Cant wait to see the Galaxy/Behold 2 Hybrid!

ok, i pushed the old TwLauncher and am using it, but cannot figure what the name of the Home Launcher apk is so i can uninstall it. I've looked for it using astro, but cannot figure out which one it is. there is nothing named home (i can find one called launcher but it has the same icon as the TwLauncher so I'm not entirely confident that its the right file to uninstall)

also, is the new updated kernel safe for public consumption? Id like to enjoy the improvements that others have reported, but dont want to mess anything up? also, how should i install it? do i follow the regular ODIN instructions or can i just use the ODIN installer to just install it without worrying about fully charging, allowing to die, then charging while off?

I am new and kinda of confused. I understand I have to use ADB to change the kernel, but I am not sure which kernel to use and how to to go about uninstalling home ++. I see there is a twlauncher.apk under the warheads download, is that the kernel to change or is it somewhere else? I am sorry if this has been explained, but there are a lot of comments in this thread and I am having a hard time keeping them in order. If there is a place that I could get this information that I am missing, I am sorry. Thanks for any help you can provide...

Updated Kernel is safe and in my case a great improvement. No more lagging on phone calls and WAY less FC's.

Just install it by using ODIN. Load OPS and then the zipped Kernel file on PDA. That's it. Also I'm fairly sure that you do not have to fully charge your phone previously to this process.

Go to the top of this thread for the instructions and files for the Kernel. Use a application called App Remover from the market to uninstall Home++.

Thanks but not really answering my question... A little bit more in depth of an instruction would be great. Is that the Kernel I use? If so what is it replacing, I am not trying to ask repeated question so if there is a link what can be posted that might help, please give me a hand. Thanks.

BTW I am running Warheads already, but am having the battery issues so that is what I am trying to improve.

Read this to see all of the changes, and post questions about the kernel there please.

I am not too sure if the improved kernel can help battery life, but it certainly helps to deal with force closes and lags (warheads is already on par with n1 roms generally speaking when it comes to speed of opening and accessing menus, settings etc; very excellent work here by BH_MAN, esp if u compare what we have now with stock 1.5. IMHO, BH_MAN has turned BH II into the most value for money Android phone out there, bar none).

Battery life has all to do with it being correctly calibrated by the rom (something you cant rush) and the phone sleeping properly (press menu key 5mins after the phone idles, if the screen does not light up, your phone is sleeping as it should).

Sorry for side tracking, i am assuming you already have the ODIN program and OPS file from Warheads since your BH II is running Warheads. Download the improved kernel from the URL below if yet to do so:

Improved Kernel

Leave the downloaded TAR file as it is, open your ODIN program as per normal, point the OPS section to where you saved the Warheads files and select Warheads' OPS file. Then point the PDA section to your newly downloaded kernel.tar file.

Ensure 'Debug only' box on the left side is UNCHECKED. Put your BH II in downloader mode (vol down + OK + ON/OFF button), connect the usb cable, press START on ODIN when ODIN has successfully detected your BH II and allocated the com port for it.

In short, this whole process is exactly like how you would have flashed a new rom or Warheads rom over again, substituting the rom file with kernel.tar in PDA section is the only change you need to make.

Dude this what you need to do remove Home++ from Warheads that's what draining you battery that's were the new Twlauncher.apk comes in do what the other post said about going to the market and getting App Remover and remove Home++ that should cure the battery problem.

Now with the kernal all you have to do is download the kernal but don''t unzip it leave as is then open up Odin load OPS file from a previous ROM flash and then load the kernal.tar into the PDA plug the phone to the computer put the phone in download mode and click start. Its very painless the flash only takes a second and then the phone reboots itself.

Good Luck:D

Anyone know why app uninstaller or any uninstaller will not find home ++? I want to loose it but it is not able to find it. Am I missing something?

Hey everyone, I've been reading this forum for a while and flashed my BH2 with several of BH_MAN's awesome ROMs, so I'm pretty much up to speed, however, due to some funny things that happened when I went to DOTS, I wanted to get your opinion on the steps you should take when moving between ROMs.

I'm using App2SD. So my question is, if I'm currently running DOTS (or any other ROM) and want to move to WARHEAD (or any other ROM), do I:

- Need to do a factory reset on my phone prior to flashing?
- Need to format my SD card prior to flashing?

It seemed like things went wacky the last time I flashed and only cleared up after I formatted my SD card and reinstalled my apps from Titanium.

Should I be able to move from ROM to ROM with all of my apps staying installed to the ext2 partition on my SD card?

Is maybe just deleting the /app-private and /dalvik-cache enough?

I just want to make sure I'm making a clean switch when I move from ROM to ROM and not dragging issues with previous ROMs along with me.

Anyone have any input?

Can someone that's running this rom please pull the following for me? It's the digital clock and I'd like to use it in the Galaxy roms.

com.sonyericsson.android.digitalclock

Thanks!

I looked for this but couldn't find it ..
find . -name *digitalclock
./data/data/com.sonyericsson.android.digitalclock

the only thing in that directory is an empty lib directory ... am I missing something?

It should be in /system/app ..but I could be wrong. When BH_MAN sees this, he'll know for sure.

anyway to fix the flipclock weather widget...giving the wrong time like i have to click it and refresh for it to catch up and give me right time...lol

Are you ending the process? My weather app does that if I don't exclude it when I use my task killer
