Root ( Port ) Galaxy 1.6 on the Behold 2 Final

Actually get Advanced Launcher it's free and you can get the 5+ home screens and 5 icons in a row on the drawer.
 
LOLOL. I think I found the fix for the Wi-fi turning off when the phone goes to sleep...

Do this:

1. Menu
2. Settings
3. Wireless Controls
4. Menu
5. Advanced
6. Wi-Fi sleep policy
7. Never/Never when plugged in

This should stop the Wi-Fi from turning off when the phone goes to sleep and should keep it active until turned off manually.

how about the battery :confused:
 
Not sure how it does on battery life. My phone's plugged into my computer so it's been charging. I imagine it would drain the battery faster with Wi-Fi on constantly.

Also, a little off-topic. I used the ADB to reboot my phone earlier. That was pretty funny.
 
i havent been able to see how well the battery life is, but i'm happy to say i unplugged it almost 3 hours ago and even though i didn't use it, it's still at 100%. i would have been happy even if i lost a percent or two
 
Has anybody got root working in R8? I used titanium Backup in R6 but have not been able to get it working in R8.
I installed a terminal program and typing su just gives me not authorized. In R6 it worked for me.

I have checked all the settings and cannot find the problem.
 
I have titanium working on R8. After the odin it was the first software I installed.

I have experimented some problems with root permissions and R8 I would suggest to uninstall then reboot then reinstall and you should have it working
 
This is by far my fav build its the quickest for me.
i dont use vibrate alot so its not a concern to much for me. I would much rather have no vibrate and be on 1.6 then the other way.
 
This revision is pretty slick. I agree with an earlier post that this overhaul is pretty Pre-like. It runs very smoothly, and it seems to be very efficient. Just a couple--strictly aesthetic--criticisms: I am not a fan of the home screen's rounded edges; I miss the stock galaxy calculator; as was stated in an earlier post, a black notification bar would be beautiful; and I wish there was a way to control the transition settings beyond what is already available.

These are all just nit-picky personal opinions, but I just thought I'd share my initial thoughts. More importantly, the ROM runs beautifully, and after running R1, R5, and R7, this is the best ROM yet!

EDIT: I just wanted to add a few of things I really like about this ROM: minimalist app drawer, and the power control widget.
 
Anyone have problems with R8 and Swype? I have had it installed on all previous Rx versions without problems. Also experienced a problem when restoring from Titanium, seem there is not enough memory to restore the apps I had on the phone with R7. Curious.:confused:

I'm using Swype on R8, and I haven't had any problems with it. I think someone else who had this problem did a factory reset and it fixed the glitch.

My Swype works just fine on R8. However restoring Swype from TitaniumBackup seems to always give me some problems. I actually emailed the developer and he should be looking into it. I recommend just redownloading Swype and installing it via Astro.
 
Hello all,

I just set up R8 and wifi works fine. I'm not sure what cause wifi to stop working on the Behold stock. The only thing I did was to do a factory reset. Now, I'm afraid to do a factory reset with R8 unless it's necessary. Do I have to do a factory reset after loading R8?
 
BH_MAN, your builds are getting exceptional battery life for me, especially compared to my friends phones running custom roms (Hero).

Any chance on attempting to fix vib, i know ive asked a few times but theres never really been a concrete answer as to what the plans are (If any) to fix vibration support for these builds.

I'll let him answer for himself, but since the old 1.5 galaxy rom never had vibrate, I'm not sure how likely it is with this galaxy rom for 1.6. From what he's said in the past, it appears to be a real pain in the butt.

But it sounds like they're working towards something even better than 1.6, so hopefully we could see a vibrate fix in the future of roms. I just wouldn't expect something out of the current galaxy 1.6.

I could be completely wrong here, but that's just what I've read multiple times regarding vibrate.
 
Yeah. That's going around I think. Just have to keep checking back. I don't necessarily need root because I don't do anything that requires root.
 
Anyone else having issues with ringtones changing from what the defaults are set too? I used Zedge to set both my default notification and ringtone and added a couple of different ones to a few contacts but they keep resetting themselves and not saving the right ones.

That did the trick, thanks! I had tried reboots but not the uninstall/re-install option since it was a brand new install.

I wonder if this will be an ongoing thing?

I needed it because the only way I can get Waze working is to restore a backup I made from 1.5. I restore all data so I don't have to login again.

If I try to set it up on 1.6 it installs fine but when I get to the point of entering my login information the keyboard does not pop up and after about 20 seconds the phone does a complete reboot.
