Porting to Voyager Mobile

softtech

I just confirmed with Voyager Mobile that our phones are eligible for porting to their service. They have a $39 per month plan with unlimited voice, text, internet and they claim not to cap usage.

With taxes (including some that aren't REALLY taxes) I should end up paying between $45 and $50 a month here in California (with Virgin I'm presently paying nearly $60 for the $55 plan).

I'm planning on making the switch at the beginning of April.

Has anyone else done this? Is it the same Sprint service we've always experienced? Any differences?

I tried to post this in the EVO V 4G board, but wasn't successful. Can someone move it as this doesn't REALLY involve rooting in any way...

Moved ;)

Also as for that...I can't say anything about Voyager Mobile...they are fairly new, and last I checked were only available in certain areas. So we'll see. For that price, though...that's not bad at all.

if you do please post if you got wiimax working.

They say that they support BOTH Wimax *AND* 4G LTE, which is to say that they seem to have access to the entire Sprint network (not including the roaming network, but that's no different from what we have on Virgin)

I'm in Los Angeles. I've never seen a Voyager Mobile dealer to save my life, but they said I could port in...

And thanks for moving it. I wonder what I did wrong in the first place...

I just checked their FAQs and it said they do not port? Let me know how this goes because I'm also interested.

Well sprint could have some special way VM wiimax phones are handled so it may not port over even though each phone has its own unique key tied to its mac address.

Sounds good. I would switch also... especially if they have USA based support. Tired of calling support and get a robot reading a computer script half way across the world.

Well, I finally received a reply after 2 weeks from voyager mobile saying my phone can be ported. Why does it seem too good to be true?

I don't think that it is. I was hoping someone else would go first and lead the way.

I'll be right behind you...

If anyone wants to take their VM phone to another network and needs the roaming ability, I suggest TING. I haven't heard about Voyager Mobile yet...but with the 15% discount I get using crazygametime to buy my top ups, I am at $38.25/mo with NO ADDITIONAL taxes or fees.

Does any other carrier whore their network out as much as Sprint?

What phone do you use at ting and how many minutes?

Before getting me Evo V, I was really considering Ting, but it's not right for everyone. If you use maybe 2gb of data each month, then you're already paying $42 per month.

I noticed they are out of top ups
