Positive talk only :)

I am working overnights again since getting my RN. Haven't worked the 7p-7a shift for years, and I was worried. Thankfully, I am handling it very well. Now I realize how much I missed nights in the E.R; such a great crew, and I love coming into a Shyte storm, hitting the ground running. The patients that come through the door tend to be more serious (which I like only because it "counts" more that I do everything I can).
Oh, and I'm finally an RN, got the job of my dreams as my first job, and I'm surrounded by the best people I've ever worked with.

Finally got that permanent bridge in my mouth. After years of hard work to save up to get my braces, get teeth extracted, get cavities filled, my last step was to close that gap where I lost a molar.

Some 8 grand later and I'm finally done with all the work in my mouth.

After all the years of having a snaggle tooth mouth, I smile and people compliment me...

I'm so proud of myself.

I haven't posted in this topic for quite a while. Not that I haven't had anything positive to post, but because life has been hectic.

The town I live in is just another small community in the Appalachian foothills. We love our school and live for high school football and Friday nights in the fall.

We have quite a tradition and take a lot of pride in our team. Since consolidation in 1967 our school has only ever had 3 football coaches all from the same family. Dave Sr was the first and he built our schools football program into a winner. A state Championship and many appearances in the regional Finals. When he retired in 1992 his son in law took over and carried the torch until 2003 when Dave Jr finally came home and took over the reigns. Unfortunately their was quite a bit of turmoil last season and after Dave Jr got into a fist fight with an assistant coach at halftime of a game in the locker room in front of the kids. He was told to resign of be fired. He stepped down and another assistant coach took over for the remainder of the season. It was a really bad season and it was hard on the kids.

This winter, over 50 applications were tendered for the job opening, mine was one of them. I have worked as an assistant on and off for years. I didn't think I had a real shot but I kept my fingers crossed. Last night at 6:42 pm the school board officially appointed me the 4th full time head coach in school history.

I was overwhelmed... Happy, scared, nervous, every emotion you can think of a I felt. It. I teared up while giving an interview to the local newspaper, I got choked up giving a sound bite to the local PBS station. I've spent a large portion of my adult life coaching sports. I never dreamed that an amazing community would ever entrust me with preparing their young men to be adults.

I have so many things running through my head that I can't keep them all straight lol

I know that everything I do will be judged and compared to the past. I know I have to deliver. I am confident that we can rebuilt this proud and storied program again. I am confident we will be playing for state titles again in a few years.

Today I am thankful and I am in the position I am in because of the family that I have. My wonderful wife does nothing but believe in me, even when I don't believe in myself. She tells me like it is and supports everything I do.
I'm excited to get started!!!

Getting ready to publish my first kids' book! :D

I have the proof and am having someone besides me pour over it for any possible errors before it goes public. Wish me luck and lots of sales: some Darling Brides are high maintenance :p

YOU GOTTA GRIND TOGETHER TO SHINE TOGETHER!
RISE UP AND PREPARE FOR GLORY!

I do wish you luck Chief. Lots of luck actually. How exciting to be a factor in entertainment and enhancement of young people. Your values are stellar... exactly the sort of influence I'd welcome to my children's young world.

I've done everything I can to make it a great read for 5-8 year old girls

Of course all 5-8 year old girls on staff get a free autographed copy? (That would include all of you with a unicorn fetish :p)

Good luck Chief. In the publishing industry, marketing is the hardest part.
