Help Possible bricked Vibrant

I used odin3 (Version 1.0 I believe) to flash the stock OS to my vibrant and everything worked as it should have. My wife also wanted this done to her vibrant. Unfortunately the program stuck at cache.rfs. After trying a few things with no success I disconnected the usb. As of now I get a Phone ! Pc icon. I've tried several different methods to return it to download to start some soft unbricking methods but cannot get it download mode no matter what. I would really appreciate any counsel you guys can offer me. Thank you in advance for taking the time to help.

Thanks for your input snapper, I really do appreciate it. I was able to fix the device by simply using a new USB cord and port and having ODIN running. At this point the phone and PC began communicating and the stock OS successfully installed - I got lucky.
