Root Possible fix for gps?

Since it uses the same radio and chipset as the thundebolt and it had the same issue of slow gps lock on, could we port the fix to our phone?

I know there have been GPS fixes done in the CM7 and MIUI ROMs. Check those out if interested. I don't know if the same fixes could be done on a 2.2 ROM.

I don't believe any of the stuff done was related to the thundebolt fixes you mentioned, but rather specific to our device/network.

The dev working on CM7 the most has switched phones. And I can say my GPS (and many others) is not slow to lock. So I doubt it will happen real soon, but maybe someone will want to mess with it some more. The source is all on his github.

That is not true, my GPS works fine. It takes <30sec to lock. Usually 10-15sec. I know other people have stated that theirs works good as well. Tickerguy made a lot of changes to the gps code in CM7 (and Isaac put it in MIUI) that made things better for most people.

yeah i understand it loads up quick for some people. but the fact that agps isn't being used at all is the issue here.

That is true. It wasn't clear to me that you specifically meant agps.

I know tickerguy poured through all of that code, and did what he could to it. Like I said his work is on github and maybe someone will come along and mess with it and what you posted.

Until then we have what we have, I am pretty happy with how mine works regardless.
