Possible link with sluggish performance

I've been experiencing slow scrolling and overall sluggish performance like others. I got rid of the big sense clock/weather widget because it was covering my new wallpaper. Now things are moving MUCH smoother. I even make less mistakes while using the on-screen keyboard. I also switched to a still background and things got faster. Anyone else have a similar experience?

The only large widgets I'm using is favorites and bookmarks.

Live wall paper is a big drain. If you wasn't really great performance rout and try some custom roms the difference is night and day.
