Root Possible problems with Ginger Villain 1.7

Hi I'm pretty new to all this rooting stuff. I followed the guide on the "root my droid" website with unrevoked. Rooted ok and flashed my first rom, ginger villain 1.7. I had to flash it again because I restored a load of sense stuff from titanium backup. I really like ginger villain but I'm having 2 problems, the GPS no longer works, I'm not getting the flashing satellite dish anymore and the headphone socket doesn't work anymore ie plugging in headphones doesn't do anything.
Any suggestions?

The gps symbol isn't a satellite dish on GV, but I guess you'd have spotted anything flashing. Not heard of the headphone problem.

Ideas? Unless you are using a pre-froyo radio we'll leave radio upgrade as a last resort. Try installing GPS Status from the market and see if you can get a fix with that?

If nobody has any better ideas, try a completely clean install without restoring anything and see whether the problems are still there?

Ta. Re GPS, google maps doesn't connect to GPS and I can't get "navigate" to connect up either. I tried GPS status but again it didn't connect to anything. When I flashed the rom the second time I only restored a few games(Angry Birds). I'm tempted to upgrade to 1.8 to see if it sorts it, however I'm not sure of the procedure. I've downloaded 1.8 on the villain setup app, do I now press install or do I have to go into recovery mode, wipe and reboot?

Recovery, nandroid and flash is the safest, but you haven't much to lose right now, so I'd be tempted to be lazy and just install from villain setup.

Just to add a few points:
1) GV is already version 1.8, so you might as well install the latest version
2) Don't restore Sense things with Titanium, and don't restore system things. Just the missing user apps.
3) In your situation, it makes probably sense to make a system wipe before you install GV (from recovery).
