Possible to activate my EVO V and obtain a virgin mobile number WITHOUT paying for the month?

So I've been using the triumph on the $25/month plan for over a year now and recently bought an EVO V. The triumph is being passed on to my younger brother (with the $25 plan still grandfathered in) along with my old number. I've been wanting to get a google voice number for a while now (and have been waiting to activate my new phone once I get a google voice #) but have not been able to get a new number in the 210 area code for the last week or so. Obviously I could port my triumph number over to GV but that would end the $25 plan. So my question is whether I can somehow set up a virgin mobile account without paying for my month and then port that number to GV? Obviously, once the number is ported the account gets closed and the month ends so I dont want to pay $35 and then have my month ends within the day

I'm under the impression that you still cannot port a virgin mobile number to google voice. At first google said they only support the 4 major carriers, but they are working on it. it's been awhile now, but I can't seem to find anything that confirms porting from VM to GV.

I'm not sure if you can get a VM number without paying for a month. if your evo v isn't activated yet, it's always worth a try.

Considering that Virgin doesn't charge for activating a phone the only way to get a number is to open an account, and the only way to do that is to pay for the month to activate, otherwise as far as they're concerned you don't exist. And as per the previous post you can't port a virgin number to GV.

I have a 210 number, if there out of numbers then you have to wait for someone on vm to drop there's. I moved back to California and been wanting to change my number to a 209 one but the $15 in the account annoys me.... Who knows when il change it.

He's trying to get a 210 on GV, good luck with that considering that Google has a very limited number of codes available to them, that's why most people port their own number into GV.
