Possible Unlock for the Captivate for FREE

Wondering if the BAT file and code lines you are using are centered around only Captivates, Samsung devices, or ATT locking in general?

I have an ATT Motorola Flipout I want to use on T-mobile.
It is rooted with Universal Androot, but now I am at a stall with unlocking it.

Thoughts?

I believe it will only work with Samsung Galaxy S phones
 
Hello. I'm a user from Argentina and I'm planning to travel to the US and take the advantage of the trip and buy a Captivate.
I'm wondering if it is worth the risk to buy an ATT Captivate and then unlock it myself, or if I'd better spend 500 dollars buying an unlocked Captivate.
And also I want to know, if I buy an ATT Captivate (is being sold in Amazon for 1 cent) I will have to pay ATT a fixed amount every month for some time.
Can you help me with this?

Any subsidized deal locks you into a contract, yes. Amazon even has its own early termination fee on top of AT&T's (fine if you're in the US and staying on AT&T, useless for you). If you buy it unsubsidized there's no contract.

Most hardware should be pretty straightforward to unlock -- see here -- but I'm not sure you can get one for much cheaper than $500 except secondhand off Craigslist or the like. Note that you'll want to back up your /efs before messing around with custom ROMs, in case you somehow get relocked...
 
As total noob, I rooted and them tried doing the lagfix. Ended up relocking the phone! But used the instructions on this topic and unlocked it easily. Did the lagfix right this time and got a 2172 points on quadrant. Thank you a lot, a lifesaver!
