Possible virus on micro usb memory card

Hi, is it possible that you could have a virus on a micro usb memory card? It all of sudden last week started causing all kinds of software issues on my Galaxy Note 3. I only came to this conclusion when I removed the card and the phone was having hard time reading it and it was looking up the settings and a few other things on my phone. It frooze every time I tried to scan the card. Any suggestions on how I can remove it if it is in fact a virus? I don't want to put it in another phone and have that issue. is there maybe a card reader that would clean it? Any help is appreciated it because I have a ton on pictures and other things on there that I didn't back up. I know my fault for not backing it up.

If it's an Android virus, put it in a card reader, connect it to a Windows or Mac computer and run a virus scan on it. (An Android virus is just a bunch of random bytes to Windows and Mac,)

Or it could be that the card is corrupted. If it's not SanDisk or Samsung, that would be the first thing I'd suspect. (Especially if you remove the card without unmounting it.)

Rukbat, thanks. I just ordered a card reader. I was thinking that also, if its not a virus that its a possible corrupt card. It is a Sandisk card. I'm hoping I can get it fixed so I can retrieve the data. I've learned my lesson about backing up that info now. Appreciate your reply.
