I am currently having issues with my charging port where the slot is so loose that my charging cable just falls right out. I bought this at best buy but unfortunatly they don't carry the htc evo v anymore. I was thinking about upgrading to the samsung galaxy s2. Best buy told me that I could just pay the difference to upgrade to the s2 but I would have to switch to Boost Mobile. I did some checking and it appears that boost uses the same towers since it goes off of sprint since there can't be much difference between virgin and boost then. Does anyone have any opinions on this phone, good or bad?? On my reserarch of this phone, it doesn't appear to be too bad of a phone, about the same as the htc evo 4g it looks like.
My question is, my htc evo v is rooted and s-off. I have already backed up my apps with TB. If I get the s2 and root, will I be able to just restore the apps to my s2 even though it was backed up on my htc evo? If I can't, how can I get these apps on my s2 with all the data thats on the apps. Some apps I have, the data is extremely important and there is quite a bit of data on these apps. If I can't do it the way I mentioned, does anyone have any suggestions on how I would be able to do this??
Thanks again for any and all suggestions, by the way, the htc evo forums and everyone in here have been extremely helpful and a invaluable resource for me.

Boost is one rate , its 55$ and it goes down to 40$( 5$ off every 6 months ) .

I'd ask if you could just get a refund , and then shop around . The S2 doesn't look worth it , VM.com already has a LTE phone for a bit more then the S2

I already asked, they won't do a refund and currently, they don't offer the s2 for virgin, just for boost. I have been lurking on the s2 forums and there are rumors that the s2 would be able to, in the future, possibly receive 4g lte. Their saying over there that all it would need is a firmware upgrade to receive the lte frequency, plus they said that a boost tech has confirmed this. At Best Buy, it seems like the s2 is the best that virgin and boost offer right now.
On another note, if I do decide to take the plunge and buy it, do you know how I can get my apps with my data onto this new phone??

I think you might have a legal case for a refund . They don't have a right to tell you you have to upgrade .

Ask for store credit at least . You MIGHT be able to use titanium to backup and restore everything , but from phone to phone I don't recommend it . Things might get strange .

Well, the person I talked to today said no refunds but I will ask again when I go back there. I will explain that this is defective and see what they say. On another note, since you don't recommend restoring my apps to a different phone, do you have any ideas how I can get my data back on these apps. I can just redownload the app from the app store but how can I get this data back into my apps??

Don't restore everything , since some apps might not be compatible , restore each app you need at a time with its data .

Actually they might have to upgrade you for free , I never buy extended warranties since theirs always some silly string attached . Phone insurance however is NORMALLY worth it

I can check and see if they will upgrade me for free because they no longer carry the htc evo v. But when I had the triumph and they no longer carried that, I had to pay the difference to get the evo v. I also checked on virgins website and it says they are sold out of the evo v, do you think if I went through them that they would exchage it for a s2??
Also, in regards to restoring the apps, if they are all through the google play store, wouldn't they all be compatible with all android phones??

On the issue of restoring apps, I might recommend transferring your backups to your new phone (if you get it) but download the apps from the play store then just restore app data from Titanium instead of app+data. That worked for me helping a friend transfer from the S2 to the S3.
