Post here ONLY if your DATA is working NOW

Has worked flawless for the past 10 days here in Central Florida. It was down for a day and half 10 days ago and when it came back 3g has not dropped once, even at 5pm when it use to quit like an alarm clock.

I've had very good service for the past few days in Pittsburgh. The only outage I encountered was a 5-minute hiccup while working out earlier this evening.

It's encouraging to see people posting positive feedback for a change. It looks like Virgin Mobile may be right on the cusp of fixing this for good.

Looking for more positive feedback. I might rebuy one if I can see the results are getting better.

Just a comment, if you go looking in a place with only positive feedback, you'll get what you wanted, yet not necessarily a good sample of the whole. :) Those with problems are more likely to gripe about them, those whose problems are fixed after a long time might be more ready to post the positive results, but those with short term problems may not always return to say their problems have been fixed.

Sorry for jumping into the topic, but when did you buy your phone? I picked mine up last Friday, and no luck thus far with 3G. In the Milwaukee area as well.

I purchased my phone 3/14. After activation i had spotty 3g(disconnecting 5-10 times a day or being completely out for hours at a time)... I called and emailed CS and went through all of the troubleshooting methods and nothing worked...then finally i got an email saying the following

I have performed some troubleshooting to the account. Can you please reprogram the device and retest? The steps to reprogram the device are listed below. The MDN is your mobile phone number and the MSID ----------.

1.Turn on your phone
2.Press the Phone icon on the Home screen
3.Dial #-#-8-4-7-4-4-6-#
4.You are now in the Service Program menu. Tap Edit.
5.The MDN field will appear
6.Enter your 10-digit phone number.
7.Tap OK
8.The MSID field will appear
9.Tap the field next to "Enter MSID"
10.Enter your 10-digit MSID
11.Tap OK
12.Tap Done.
13.The phone will turn off and turn back on by itself.

Thanks,
Tanganique W.

After this..which was about 3 days ago...I've had not one 3g drop.

Not sure if the fix just coincidentally happened right after i got that e-mail... because i see other people have a good connection now as well and I'm sure they didn't all get this e-mail.

I actually did that as well but it did not work, however resetting my month SEEMS to be working, I reset it yesterday and today I've only had one drop for maybe a few seconds which is MUCH better than I get any other day.

Still up and running 3 days streamed audiogalaxy for 5 hours straight without one disconnect from my house, most of the time in my basement 1or 2 bars.

No data drops since I first got it yesterday. Needless to say, I haven't done much but download about 4 apps and used facebook, uploading a couple pics there and sending them via email.

Looking for more stories of people who HAD the data access issue
and are seeing it get better and you can access data now.

might go to wal-mart tomorrow and pick up a new one.

Should I?

I forgot about this thread, but around 2:15pm I called executive escalations once again, as I still had the "redirect of death" issue. The lady I spoke with warned me that the 3G outage still presented a possibility of drops, and said that they'd already done all the troubleshooting they could, but I asked her nicely to reset my plan. She decided she would, though said there were no guarantees... And everything's worked! I've been running solely on 3G (not wifi) since, and it's been perfect.

Ironic she states "there's still an outage"......yet when she resets your plan, it works.
Sounds like they dont even know if the network is up or not.

So, when you ask them to "reset your plan"... What exactly are you asking them to do? what steps does the end user have to do?

I thought that was odd as well. She tried to convince me that the redirect issue was still the result of the 3G outage, that nothing could be done to stop that until the outage was fixed. However, I mentioned that I had heard others had gone to Tier 3 Tech Support and had the redirect issue fixed by resetting their plan.

Effectively (I didn't use these terms with the rep, though), it's an "unplugging and plugging back in" for the plan, much like the battery pull/power off-on is supposed to do for the phone, or the reprovisioning of 3G stuff. It's as if my plan was cancelled, then re-instated, as I received a text message welcoming me to the $25 Beyond Talk plan. Now my due date is 4/26 (instead of 4/2) so I got an extra 3+ weeks without paying as well.

She said that it was an option (seemed like a last resort... probably because it costs them $). She said she would be able to do that for me once I had convinced her, with no guarantees, and seemed a bit reluctant, though she was quite nice. I didn't get her name, though, as sometimes it's hard to listen in once the conversation starts. Hope this helps.

I ported my # on 3-20. Port completed 3-21 but had data issues(not working and short battery life). Immediatly figured out the 3g reconnect problem and followed the *#*#4636#*#* menu route and havent had issues since...been 2 days solid. Network speeds still blow at high demand times but it works. Has switched from 3g to 1x to 3g just fine and network disconnect % has remained 0%.

I have yet to root and flash (can't decide on a 1st rom), So I'm on stock VM rom, just fyi...and I reside in MI.

I have like others had alot of data drops in the last couple of weeks

the last 3 days or so I have not had any drops at all and faster speeds.

I know it is not the phone because I did nothing to it. VM Did something to their network to fix whatever problem the V was having.

My battery is now lasting longer too, because it isn't constantly trying to reconnect 3g data.

I haven't had a data drop for the past 4 days here in south cal. Before that I used to have 3G drops 1-2 times a day on average over my 2 weeks of ownership. Things do seem to be getting better.

I think you should...now that the 3g services seem to be stable and faster(last 4 or 5 days for me). You can't beat $25 a month.

My 3g had a hiccup for a few hours yesterday but after a battery pull and restart its back and faster than ever, but my suggestion to anyone considering this phone, I would wait at least another month as they work out the kinks in the network. It is getting better but it obviously isn't completely resolved as there are still people having trouble, and with them being sold out it will probably take a few weeks before they are back in stock anyways.

seems the network really is better haven't had a drop in 5 days, my speeds slow down during peak but never drops.

I've noticed a major improvement, also. Only had to restart it once in the last 3 days.

you guys should note whether or not you had to restart/airplane mode/dat on/off or anything like that to get data going again....if you didn't, then the major problem is solved....not everybody is being clear as whether there 3g just came back on on it's own or not.

I haven't had to use airplane mode or data off/on at all for the last 4 days.

Yeah I actually went all day without a data-drop yesterday and the day before I had one drop that lasted a few seconds :D Only thing changed was I restarted my month a day early so maybe with the refreshed month it changed something on my account?
