Root Post Root issue : how do I get my apps back ?

Ok, so the rooting process was nice and smoth, and now I have cyanogen installed on my phone BUT ... I cannot download anymore from the Google play store ( it says apps will be downloaded shortly or that they are already installed, but nothing happens at the end.

I can't even reinstall titanium to use my backups.

What should I do and what's happening ?

Thanks in advance

yes really, if coming from a different rom. make a backup, do full wipe/factory reset. reflash CM, then gapps and try again.

Actually /data *is* where user data (and apps) live. A full wipe is wipe data, wipe cache, wipe dalvik, wipe .android_secure - the "full wipe/factory reset" option in recovery does that.

So yeah, do as Shauny says. It's the only way to ensure a clean install of a new ROM (and wiping /data has actually removed most of the stuff you care about).

Well, I did as you said guys, but I still have the same problem : Wipe ALL, then reinstall CM, then try to download apps through the Google play website, but no chance at all (always the stupid message saying that it will be downloaded soon on my mobile ...)

And BTW, in recovery mode, I only have an option "Wipe ALL userdata", nothing named "full wipe/factory reset" ...

Actually, I wonder how the Store can make the link between my account and my device, since I don't have any gmail app on my phone. How are they supposed to know which is which ?

wipe all user data is same thing. Clear the data on google play from manage apps in settings. You should then have to put your gmail details in again. see if it will work after this. You wont lose your purchases.

Thanks.

Clear the data on google play from manage apps in settings -> Where am I suppose to do that ? On the website ? My mobile ? If I go into my Desire, Settings/Applications/Manage applications, I don't have any option to clear data (and now Activity manage applications is not responding, since I installed the Play Store.

So, I installed the Play Store, and it asks me to add an account, but every time it asks so and I tap "Yes", it gets back to the home screen and nothing happens (no error message though).

I am using Android 2.3.7, Kernel 2.6.37.6-cyanogenmod (Cyanogen 7.2.0.1-bravo) ...

yes, manage applications. You don't have a clear data? strange, i have. Clear cache? try that. You could always try reflashing google apps from recovery.

My point is I couldn't manage Google play, as the process was bugging before. SO. I manage to clear the datas from the app, but the behavior is still the same : as soon as it asks to link my account, it drops and get back to the home screen.

And I don't want to be annoying, but I have looked for how to flash google apps from recovery, and I can't see anu option for that.

In recovery I have the following options :
Reboot system
USB-MS toggle
Backup/Restore
Flash zip from sdcard
Wipe
Partition SDcard
Mounts
Other
Power off

oh dear god, it was that simple. :D

Yes, google apps (gapps) is a zip file that's flashed separately after the rom, so you would choose install zip from card option in recovery.

Glad it's sorted. :)

Yeah, sometimes, it's always the simplest thing, that you skip because it's just too obvious, it happened to me as well several times, when I was working for a transnational company as a technical support agent ! Thanks again !
