Root Post rooting setup steps

With all the focus on the rooting process itself there seems little clear information on what happens once rooted. What I have discovered so far (for Cyanogenmod7):

1. It took a few moments to realise the lock on screen could be flicked away with the finger!

2. I was not able to access apps at the Android Market or Appbrain. It seems I need to flash a Google apps package to phone.

3. I need to reinstall HTC Sync on my work computer (I did the rooting process from home).

4. Hopefully by then I can reinstall apps from the Market.

5. I need to set up Exchange ---Done!

6. I have set up my two Google email accounts however they do not display under "Accounts and Sync". Hopefully when I flash with the goo-inside.me - gapps downloads that will be fixed.

Current questions that remain:

Can I reinstall apps from the sd card directly? Or, as I have backups from "Mybackup Pro" on both the SDcard and on my PC, can I restore apps from there? This means I suppose I need to reinstall MybackupPro but need to install the gapps first.

Initally a scarey process, but getting more confident now.

Once I get some of the above sorted, I will try to put together a comprehensive list of what to do after rooting - no doubt many will have useful comments to add.

Cheers,

The whole gapps thing is only for cm7 because of legal issues. Once you flash that, yes accounts and sync will show your Google accounts.

You can restore apps with my backup.

All of this is more after flashing rather than after rooting. As per the rooting faq, first thing to do is take backups.

Titanium is best.

Thanks -- when I get this info together I will put it outside the Rooting threads.
