Root Post RUU difficulties

Before RUU I was rooted, S-Off, 4ext up to date install, and running Mobsterz Remix. I was having difficulties with trying to install JB based roms and figured I'd try out this RUU.

I got the zip and flashed it from the bootloader. RUU ran fine, phone back completely stock and I then system updated. After this I installed the jbear 1.57.5757 hboot. (not sure why this hboot it was late at night...) I was about to reinstall 4ext until I realized that I no longer had root access. Silly me! I figured I'd try fastboot usb. HTC Sync is installed and detects my phone just fine. My sdk-tools are still there as well from when I first rooted my phone back in the day. Unfortunately, fastboot does not seem to work as it does not detect my device... (USB debug enabled, and connection set to charge only) I've tried to flash PG86IMG files of recoveries from the bootloader on my phone but I get a CID error.

tl;dr I can't install a recovery, currently fresh off up to date stock rom. Any help would be appreciated! Thank you!

Also, since you are s-off you can flash recovery through the bootloader just like you did the ruu.

Just make sure you're removing these PG86IMG files from your SD card after using them.

Also, for jellybean you need a downgraded HBOOT. Use jpbear 1.50.5050 for jb.

I tried the exact same method that Brian suggested (but different 4ext download), and it didn't work. This time recovery installed! Must have been a corrupt download! Thank you both for your help. :) My sanity has returned.
