Post some pics you've taken with your GNex---

We had one of these over in the DX forums, so I'm going to try to start one here because there has been some debate recently about the quality/worthiness of the GNex's lowly 5MP camera. I, for one, couldn't be happier, the pictures it takes are MORE than good for what I need... i'm not printing posters or absurdly large photos, i'm not a professional (and if I was I sure as hell woudn't be using my phone camera for shoots), and I don't really care that much. As long as its crisp, and the colors are reasonably accurate that's what matters to me. 5MP vs. 8MP... i'll never notice the difference except the file size and how far you can zoom in.

Anyway, back to the point of this thread... post a few pics (good ones) that you've taken with your GNex and lets see what this things camera can really do.

PLEASE LIMIT EACH POST TO FOUR (4) PICS SO THE THREAD DOESN'T GET RIDICULOUSLY HUGE.

Here's my four:

I was at the fair the other day and they had just finished judging the flower competition.... so I thought it would be a good opportunity to test the camera out. Just in case anyone is wondering these were taken on 4.1. Lets see what everyone else has.

to be fair... there aren't a whole lot of pictures in that thread. It would be cool to have a thread with just pics and not 10 random posts in between.

i will notifiy someone and we will see what we can do about getting it cleaned up so pictures taken with the GNex can be viewed

true the other thread is filled with jibba jabba but it does have pics in it. I was just referring it in case you wanted to take a gander :)

This weekend for my birthday, some friends of mine (with my GF as co-conspirator) woke me up at 5:30am by hitting me with pillows, then told me to get dressed and then threw me in a car. They took me to Calgary for the day, and one of the things we did was hit the Calgary Zoo (a place I haven't been to in 15 years). All I had on me was my phone, wallet, and keys, so I started snapping shots with my GNex. Any time I had to zoom, things turned out kind of rough, but lots of close up shots worked out really well. Here's 4 of my favorites, just shot from the hip. It's not a bad camera:

Today while I was out and about in the Plano/Allen Texas area, I decided to shoot some photos using the GN stock camera app in order to see what my new phone/camera combo was capable of. No adjustments were made to any of the photos other than cropping and resizing. (No sharpening, no color adjustments etc.)

My shooting technique was simply touching the screen to focus, locking my elbows to my side and gently touching the on- screen shutter to take the photo.

I also had good natural lighting since it was an overcast day here today. (I don't care what camera you have...if the lighting is poor...i.e. too bright, too dark, etc. you need to know what you're doing in order to get a good shot)

I shoot Canon 5D Mark II as an on-the-side photographer...but based on these real-world results - I would be more than happy using the Galaxy Nexus as my pocket shooter.
