1. Yes, you can stretch the invisible icons/DesktopVisualizR shortcuts/other icons. to determine a grid for your wallpaper, roughly speaking, just divide the image by the number of columns and rows using a grid or guide system in your image editor - for example, I use 6 colums by 10 rows, which is about 160 pixels square on my grid that I look at. Once you get your Android, you will almost certainly want an alternative launcher, which can set your grid on your phone to a bunch of settings - the same for WidgetLocker.
2. Hiding the status bar is certainly a possibility - ADW Ex lets you do so, and you can unhide it with a swiping gesture. ADW Ex is the paid version, but I do believe the free one lets you do the same. I am not sure about other launchers, as I have always been partial to this.
3. Missed calls and such can be displayed by alternative methods - the two most popular would be SMS unreadcount and Missed It!, free and paid on the market respectively.

Assuming I paint the icons onto my background and don't make physical icons, and use transparent icons over them (which I have already researched and know how to do), how do I know what size to make my painted icons on the background? Can I stretch the invisible icons to be whatever size I want? I feel like there is probably some sort of grid system I can't find any information about.

Second, I was planning on hiding the status bar across the top (because it really isn't needed), but if I do that, and I have made my own text message icon that is painted on and covered with an invisible icon, how will I know how many new texts I have? Is there a way to make the invisible icon invisible except for the cute little number that tells me how many texts I have? Or do you guys have any other advice?

Sorry if these were addressed earlier, I have read quite a bit of this thread and don't see anything about it, and searching the forum doesn't seem to bring anything up either. Thanks!

ooh, those icons are snazzy, thanks for the info! I'm always on the lookout for nice, big, bright icons for making my mom's screen so she can see stuff ;) love what you're doing with those batt lines

Have you downloaded the batterylinev2 font yet ? Put it in your fonts folder that you have on your sd card . open Min text and go to global settings, find your fonts folder and click on it and you should be good to go. is that what you mean ?

so ok, i dwnlded d batteryline font and hv tried everything but i cant get to work it in 1 line, its always 2 lines.. :(
how do i fix this, no luck on google either :/

i just figured if i add every bar twice instead of once in minimalistic text, the bar comes out in one line. but that worked only on widgetlocker screen.. not on homescreen.. so thnx will try this..
looks like a lot of stuff can be done with this :D
and its free :D:D

If you're curious, check your usage (menu-> settings-> about phone-> battery-> battery use). It will tell you exactly what is using the battery.

And, of course WidgetLocker is going to run all the time... it's the lockscreen!

I haven't neglected to check my battery usage. If it shows up as low percentages under your usage, that just means you have many other apps/services consuming even more battery than widget locker. sounds like your fb widget just users that much more battery than wl and dv, both of which drain battery. The reason you don't notice it is because you've grown complacent, along with all who use lock screen apps. I implore you, remove both and tell me its not a noticeable difference.

But hey, its your phone. Using it or not is entirely up to each user,.and that's the beauty of Android apps. I'm just saying, the way lockscreen apps work, they are always on and running (some like lockbot run like a launcher), consuming battery as an active app, not the case at all with your phones builtin lockscreen, which consumes 0 juice/hr, serving the same purpose. For most creative users who post in this thread, it is worth the tradeoff, very understandably so, to allow for better customization. For me, as I'm barely ever home, my top priority is maximizing my battery life to the absolute fullest, while still having a beautiful interface, so that is why I will never install a lockscreen app
