Pantti (deposit) on cans. An unknown phenomenon in my country.

yes, you pay it when you buy a can/bottle and you get it back when you return them (there are recycling machines almost in every stores):

many cans (95%) (or bottles (92-100% / plastic-glass)) are recycled because of this. some goes back to the factory and are reused. the deposit varies from 0,10e to 0,40e depending on the bottle and for cans it is 0,15e.

I did genealogy research for many years. Countless hours looking at microfilm and walking cemeteries and visiting court houses in multiple states. When the free online sites popped up, I freely contributed my research. Among the sites was RootsWeb. It was purchased by Ancestry and now my work is on Ancestry. I can't amend it or remove it without joining/paying for a subscription. Ancestry took free sharing to a new level lol. Some how this just doesn't sit well with me.

With that said... genealogy work is a great quest with a reward now and then. It's a lot of fun and very time consuming.
Ancestry is a great site with loads of info. It is a great place to start. Take advantage of their census work and publications.
Take family trees with a grain of salt. There are mistakes in my tree that they host that I can't access. I'm sure I'm not the only one that refuses to pay for what I freely contributed.
