Post your MicroSD card benchmarks

I'd like to start collecting MicroSD card benchmarks. If you have bought a MicroSD card for use in your Captivate, please help out.

To test:

Install the following:
SD Card Speed Tester - Android app on AppBrain

Run it several times to make sure you don't get a fluke low number (like from momentary activity). If your phone is idle, you should get consistent results.

Then, please post to this thread with the following:

Card brand/model
Capacity
"Class" rating
Write speed (MB/s)
Read speed (MB/s)

Although it's not made obvious, the author has updated this app so that on Galaxy S phones it appends sd/ to the test path in order to test the external card (if present).

Results will be consolidated onto CapFAQ.com

A-DATA 16 gb card Class 6

First test: Write 7 mb/s
Read 15 mb/s
Class 6 card

Second: Write 8 mb/s
Read 12 mb/s
unknown class

Third: Write 9 mb/s
Read 13 mb/s
unknown class

San Disk Gig 8 Gig

Write 6MB/s
Read 15 MB/s

Tested 3 times as the App suggested. Scored the same all three times...

Is that good?

Transcend Micro SD-HC
8GB
Class: I do not know/remember.
Write: 5 (MB/s)
Read: 12-14 (MB/s)

I never formatted this card on the Captivate. Took it out of my blackberry and put it in the new phone.

Do I need to reformat it on the Captivate?

I tested two cards. My 8GB is in use, full of data, and I just unwrapped my 16GB. Used the default buffer of 1MB. After seeing the results, I'm a bit concerned about the read speeds. Looks like more people are getting 13+ even with Class 4 cards, where I'm maxing out at 13 with the Class 10 and not even getting close with the Class 4.

Patriot
8GB
Class 4

Write: 4MB/s
Read: 9MB/s

Write: 4MB/s
Read: 9MB/s

Write: 6MB/s
Read: 9MB/s

Kingston
16GB
Class 10

Write: 11MB/s
Read: 13MB/s

Write: 12MB/s
Read: 13MB/s (Suggested Class12 at this point???)

Write: 13MB/s
Read: 13MB/s (Suggested Class12 again?)

SanDisk
32 GB
Class 2
Write 3-4-4-4
Read 10-11-11-10

Just arrived yesterday, loaded it with 30 GB of ghost PC images and then loaded a bunch of other files, tested read and write of those files, everything worked as expected.

Loaded it into my phone and formatted... 31.20 GB

$59.99.

Kingston SDC 2GB (bought ~2 years ago on Woot for $5)
I never paid attention to class, and it isn't marked on the card.
The tests says it may be class 6.

I ran the test thee times, results were identical-

Write 7
Read 9

SanDisk
32 GB
Class 2
Write 3-4-4-4
Read 10-11-11-10

Just arrived yesterday, loaded it with 30 GB of ghost PC images and then loaded a bunch of other files, tested read and write of those files, everything worked as expected.

Loaded it into my phone and formatted... 31.20 GB

Where did you get it so cheap?

Ebay, Seller from New York I trusted from previous transaction, he must have been feeling out the market because he has since pulled the 'buy it now' auction, here is one of his completed listings TinyURL.com - shorten that long URL into a tiny URL he also threw in a USB adapter along with the SD card reader. If he still had them available I would recommend it to my mom if that means anything to you. As I am sure you know, there are lots of fakes out there, but that doesn't mean they all are. I have been researching for a while hoping to find the promised Samsung Class6 MicroSd card but I just could wait anymore. Didn't want to buy 16 when for just a bit more I could get 32...

On a completely different note and something you might want to consider in your benchmarks, I upgraded to Cog 2.2 B7 last night using the "From Eclair 2.1" steps found here TinyURL.com - shorten that long URL into a tiny URL and here are my numbers...

Write 6-7-7-7
Read 13-14-13-12

I was quite pleasantly surprised as this is now reporting class 6 speed, I even bumped the buffer up to 5MB and still got the same results.

I upgraded from 2.1 which had Unleash the beast v0.2 and RyanOCLF. Backed up my apps to my new card with TiBU, restore went perfectly.

Patriot 16gb Class 6
29.99 at Frys with SD adapter

7/15, 7/15, 7/15

I have a fistfull of movies on it and they playback very smoothly. Media scanning time isnt too shabby either, considering I have about 10 gigs of music on the internal and 12 gigs of movies on the external. Price for phone: 149.99, price for card $30. total, less than 200 for a 32gb phone. Price of 32gb Ip4 $300. Cant complain about that at least!

Sandisk 8gb, class 2, tested 4 times (I guess something was running on the 2nd test), all 4 test were with a 1MB buffer

Write: 6MB/s - 2MB/s - 8MB/s - 6MB/s
Read 13MB/s - 12MB/s - 15MB/s - 13MB/s

The app thinks I have a class 6 card

Yeah, that's not gonna work for me. I've using the leaked Froyo, and even emulating other markets, I can't see it on the market. Fast Install on AppBrain also isn't working for me.

So please, if you wish to help me, send me the APK, as I requested.
