Post Your Notification Sounds!

All I am going to say is www.cr@ckberry.com
NO it's not a plug, but if you register and check out the ring tone section, they are ALL free and can be downloaded or emailed to device (haven't tried email with droid yet)
I have had so many ringtones from that site, I will have to poke around and recommend my favorites.

yea i use ssf 10 to make my ringtones, and if they come off a dvd, i use handbrake to make mp4, and sony reads it, its fun to do.

at the current moment, i have the song cartoon by young dro as my ringer, its an old song but one of my fav, i just got my droid, so now im in the process of making it look like my old eris, programs and such
 
I've got maybe over a 100 ringtones/notification sounds on my Droid now ;)

I've been using:

-Handcent: DROIDDDDDD
-Facebook: U2 - Electrical Storm intro (pretty cool)
-Ringtone: Crank Dying cellphone
-Twidroid: Tweeters
-Gchat: LOST monitor "blip" sound (1x)

Any way to change the voicemail alert to something specific?

-Chocolate Salty Balls

-EuroTrip's "Mail Mothe @(#*@ka!"
-a bunch of Family Guy ones

-Fringe Theme
-Final Fantasy Victory fanfare
-Geico's RingDing, Ryoksopp and Somebody's Watching Me
-GTA Vice City MIssion Completion (I want this as my voicemail alert!)
-Half Life Message Detected
-Halo 3 short text sound
-Hello Moto
-Hard Knock Life
-Assorted Heroes of Might and Magic (2-5) sounds
-iPhone Chime SMS, Ringtone as well
-Lady Gaga (bunch o ringtones)
-A ton of Left For Dead and Left For Dead 2 sounds and music
-Leisure Suit Larry
-Macguyver theme
-Mercenaries 2 "Oh No You Didn't" song
-Michael Jackson ringtones

wow, you guys are hard core. i just have a song for my ringtone and one of the standard droid sounds for my notifications.

ringtone: "i'm the man who loves you" by wilco (i play it from the intro...it's just got a cool, long intro...also, it's wilco)

Bear in mind I didn't make these 229 JUST for the Droid lol. I've been building this collection for about 6-7 years. My old LG phones used to work fine with mp3s renamed to MID files and send using VZPIX to my phone. Then I got to use BitPM to hack 'em for my LG Chocolate. Finally my LG Voyager had a data mode and could use them off of the MicroSD card.

Droid has been the easiest by far. Drop 'em in a folder for notifications, one for ringtones, allllllllllll set!

When I was with AT&T (you can probably do this with VZW too), they would let you preview the song on the web when logged into your account, but would have to pay to download.

You could actually right click and view source and get the name of the .mp3 file and then create a quick href tag in an html page to right click and save target as, and then you would have the mp3 file - :)
 
How are you guys getting custom notification sounds for text messages?

I can set a "song" as a ringtone, but I don't see any option for messages. :confused:

Create a folder called "Notifications" on your SD card (separate folder, not a subfolder) and put the ringtones/MP3s you want to use as message notifications there. Also, I believe you need to be in the Messaging app (the stock Messaging, or Handcent, or whatever you use for messaging) and set the messaging notification ringtone from there.
 
Yep you need to set a Notifications and Ringtones folder on the MicroSD card's root. I think it's NotificationS and not without the S but if it still doesn't work try the other :)
