Help power button issue

Please forgive me if this seems like a duplicate thread already mentioned. This thread is for questions and hopefully answers to make you say hmm ?s. Like, why is it that I can power the TB easier while it is on the charger. Just one soft press and it starts to power on. If not on charger, you must press hard for at least 5 seconds. Why is that??? I've got more--2 B continued...

+1 I've not had this issue either. Might be you have a bad TB or a glitch in your firmware?

I personally have not experienced that issue.
Are the 2 of you saying that if you power your TB down, It will power up with just a half sec or so press of the power button, while not charging? All I have to do is tap the power button when it is charging and it loads up fine. When not charging I hold power button 3-5 secs before it powers on. Please don't say it is a possible defect. I've had my TB since launch 3/17/11 around 10am. Itz always been this way. Unless it is just mental, but I have tried to just tap and go so to speak. Never worked. Please get back to confirm. Thanks Thunderbolt fam..

Mine does exactly as you've described. Plugged in it will boot with a short press. Unplugged it takes 5+ seconds of pressing...this has always annoyed me.

Are you talking about from sleep or when the phone is off and has to boot?

Yeah, this. I've never had this problem. If my phone is off, aka sleep mode, then all I do is press the power button and w/in a sec, my phone turns on and I unlock the screen and use the phone. My phone takes more time to reboot though.

I think this is by design, if you have the phone off and not it is more likely to be in your pocket or purse and being a battery hog you don't want it turning on just because something brushed the power key, if it is plugged in there is less likelyhood that the power key will automatically get pressed.

Off and has to reboot.

Okay, then I am nearly 100% sure this is by design. The button is not likely to get accidently bumped while on the charger but when it is in your pocket/purse/bag it could happen easily. This feature is to prevent the phone being turned on in situations where it shouldn't be as well as preserve battery life :)
