Help Power button not responding?

a.norton

Newbie
today outta nowhere the power on/off button on my captivate is unresponsive. ive tried pressing and holding it, i turned my phone off by taking out the battery and even let it sit there for awhile while it was off, but still no response. Anyone have this kind of problem before and is my phone just plain broken or is there a way to fix this?

tried it, can't take pictures with the power button obviously but i took some with the touch screen and exited out of the camera but no luck :/

what if i had already rooted it, is the warranty still good?

I have never heard of a warranty claim for a hardware defect being denied because the device is rooted. I would also guess that they wouldn't even check if it was.

Warranty claims with AT&T go something like this ... walk into a warranty center (you local store will tell you the one in your region). You hand them the phone and tell them the problem. They confirm defect and set you up with a refurb if they have one there and your warranty continues on the refurb for the duration of the first phone. If they do NOT have a refurb of the same model and that model is still current, they may give you a new phone, but they are not obligated.

If you can't get to a warranty center and they accept that it is a valid claim over the phone, you pull your sim, sd card and battery and they send you a refurb with a return package for the defective phone. They will require a credit card, but as long as they receive the defective phone within a certain amount of time, nothing is charged.
