Help Power button on G-Tab

Hi folks - I'm a newbie and have yet to mod my G-Tab but I will follow the incredible advice I have been reading here.

My current question is in regards to the power button. I have had my Tablet for over a month now - maybe two. I am now noticing that when I lightly press the power button the screen does go blank. Is this safely putting it into sleep mode or is my button going wonky? I didn't notice when I first got it so just want to double check all is working.

Touching the power button lightly puts it in "sleep" mode. I know because I'm always accidentally touching it when I'm in the middle of stuff. Touching it again should take it out of sleep and depending on your rom it will either just wake up or you slide the unlock screen if you have one.
