Help Power Mode

1st post here.....

So I absolutely love my new Rezound. Everything about it is great. I just wanted to voice a concern to see if it is normal or not, and if anyone has any suggestions:

I live in San Diego and have very good 4G coverage. When my power mode is set to "high performance" I get a constant 4G signal and even with light use my battery is drained in about 6 hours.
However, when I put it to "normal" I drop to 3G and get a full days use.
Am I missing something? Is this to be expected? Is there any way for me to have 4G coverage and get longer use of a full battery?

Please help friends!

Set your power mode to Economy (this will allow you to configure certain settings) then go back and turn on 4g, sync or any other setting you want enabled.

Thanks for the response!
When I do that the only things I see that I can customize are background data, wifi, bluetooth, brightness, timeout, and animations.

Am, I missing something?

It has been stated in other threads that 4G will use more power than 3G. It has also been stated that if you switch to a power mode below High Performance, you may experience less than desirable behavior with your phone connections (e.g. dropouts and weak signal). Since I rarely am in a 4G district and since I always am on High Performance mode (I bought the phone for its speedy performance), I can't say those statements are correct. Hopefully someone can validate these statements who has experience.

I got the extended battery and I'm very happy with it. I am not a heavy user, but I only get to around 80% after having the phone off the charger for 18 hours, 70% if I use the phone all night long after work.

My experience is very similar to yours.

I live and work in a fringe area and only get constant 4G when I have my phone set on "high performance". But I also burn battery faster. So I have my phone set at "normal" most time.

I have not noticed a real-life performance difference with actual voice or data reception that is measurable to me as a human user (as opposed to measuring equipment), only a better battery life. My phone does switch to 4G periodically. Today for example I had a 90 minute cell to cell call from Sweden and had great reception. We even traded excel files.

My phone right now is at 50% after 2 hrs of talking on three calls, 33 minutes of internet, 26 min of music listening last night, two gmail checks, and 4 text messages. It has been on for 21hrs 37min since charge.

To me this is not bad at all so I'll keep the normal setting.

I'm not sure I believe that 4G drains the battery faster than 3G (as long as the phone isn't doing any intensive downloading I mean). With my Thunderbolt I had to leave it on 3G for the most part and I never noticed the battery draining faster in 4G over just 3G. Now where I noticed it draining faster on 4G is when I was in a spotty 4G connection and my data would bounce around constantly. I never really trust the Verizon maps because I'm about 4 blocks from a well documented dead zone and yet their map shows red all over.

It would be interesting to see what other users in that area see on different phones (4G users of course). I'm betting the 4G area isn't as robust as Verizon's coverage map would indicate.

I guess I am fine in Normal Mode and just staying on 3G for most of the day when I am not using the web.
I would like to change the settings though so my gmail is pushed continuously. Now, when on Normal Mode and in 3G I need to go in and ask it to refresh.....

I used normal mode, with 4G turned off. No problems with connectivity. When I need 4G, I turn it on. Normal mode doesn't prevent 4G from working. Since 4G is still growing, some areas near where I live and travel do not have it. I'll turn on 4G if I know the area I'm in has it. I use wi-fi when I'm home (even tho I have a great 4G signal).

From my brief experience with the Rezound, keeping it in 4G mode does take some extra juice from the battery, but it's not something I would be concerned about.

When you're at home and connect to wifi does 4g automatically turn off? On the iphone, it appears that as soon as it auto connects to my home wifi, the 3g goes away (turns off?).

Yes, 3G/4G automatically turn off... when you go out of your WiFi coverage your 3G/4G will connect back up automatically as well. (At least that's what's happening with me.)

That's cool. Surely that would save a lot of battery life.

What I realized today about the power modes is that economy turns off the 3G but you can go into settings>wireless & networks>mobile networks>network mode and turn 4G back on.

Additionally you need to go into accounts and sync and turn auto sync back on.

Basically, Sense 3.5 has auto settings in High-Performance and Normal but if you really want to tweak the settings you can use economy and tweak it any way you want.

Would have been nice for some directions or information rather than having to figure it out myself. LOL!

I thought I had this battery thing figured out. 2 nights ago I changed from "Performance" to "Normal", didn't change anything afterwards. The battery only drained 3% in 6 hours overnight!!! Sleep mode worked! In 22 hours after coming off the charger I was down to 65%!!! During the day I read forum posts and realized Normal mode turns of Background Syncing and changes Mobile to CDMA (3G) instead of LTE (4G). I restored Syncing and LTE (but left Mobile off). I leave Mobile off unless I need it, I have WiFi at work and home. Battery drain was awesome all day!!! I don't need the extended battery that make the phone look like a brick!!!

Last night I charged it to 99%, went to bed, and woke up 6 hours later with the battery at 14%!!!!!!!!!!! WTF!!!!!!!! Last night I changed my wife's Rezound to the same settings as mine. She has the extended battery. She woke up 2.5 hours after taking it off the charger (99%) and found the extended battery at 74%!!!! All that had been using battery was Cell Standby and Phone Idle. Hers was still in Sleep mode when I checked it this morning, I set mine to wake at 5am like I do. Was there a Verizon network issue last night??? They should have been sleeping!!!

I'm still charging my phone and told my wife to watch hers. I have no idea what to do next!!! I thought I had it beat and then this happens!!! This same kind of thing happens on and off. It got to the point we were shutting our phones down overnight because of the random battery drain, my best was 13% drained, worst the battery went from 99% to 1% overnight (it shut down during the night).
