Help Power Off button combination?

Is there a way to power off the phone with just the hard buttons? A sort of ctr-alt-del type thing?

My alarm went off but some other app had the screen focus and was frozen. I could push the power button and see the popup to turn it off but could not get input to it.

Removing the battery works but the hard case I have is a pain to remove, especially at 5am when you're still asleep.

If holding down the power button for 30 seconds doesn't work, the battery pull is your plan "B". I'm not fond of it either. My HP Touchpad (w/o an easily removed battery) uses power + home button which always works.

On my previous phone, an LG Ally, I was able to download a "reboot" widget which allowed me to power off or boot the phone without even using the hard buttons. Perhaps there is something like that for the DX. (Likely requires being rooted though.)
