Power Skin review

I've been using the PowerSkin no for about 2 weeks and thought I would post a small review. So far I like the extra power I get, a fully charged PowerSkin will keep the phone at 100% for 12+ hours with moderate use. I noticed that using Pandora will drain the case fairly quickly if it's not at 100%. It takes about 4 hours to charge a drained case to full charge. I like the feel of the silicone rubber, nice soft texture and it keeps the phone from sliding. I also like the extra weight it gives the phone, makes it feel a bit more substantial while also making the phone thicker, easier to hold on to. The only thing I don't like is the the fit, it's a little too loose. It fits ok, but I wish it fit a little more snugly, but that's just me. Overall, I think it's a good accessory.
I had an Otterbox with the plastic screen cover which was a magnet for skin oil and once the plastic had a few prints on it, it would distort the image on the screen, almost like it was magnifying the pixels. Plus it added a little too much chromatic abberation to the distorted image. The distortion wasn't great, but enough to be annoying.

I am also using the power skin, and I thought I would throw in my two cents as well. The extra power is nice, that's the big reason to buy one of these. However, (contrary to what the man at the ATT store said when he sold it to me) you can not connect your phone to the computer while the case is on. Charging is done through an identical port on the side of the phone, but if you try to connect to your computer, it will charge but you cannot sync files. This is not a problem if you sync wirelessly or via the cloud, but just a heads up.

Another big thing to be aware of is that as the battery pack gets close to empty, it will switch the pack on and off as it shakes the last couple drops of juice out. This amounts to continuous "phone plugged in," and "phone unplugged" notifications for a couple minutes. This actually uses up a noticeable amount of battery power because it has to turn the screen on each time. @davidgoerndt66 You didn't mention this so I don't know if you have the same issue, but if you found a way to avoid this let me know.

Anyway, I don't mean to discourage anyone from getting the case. I continue to use mine. These are just things I wish I had known before I bought it and might help you with your decision.

I haven't noticed that behavior, yet. I did, however, notice the inability to connect to my computer while the case was on the phone, annoying, but I can live with it as the case is easy to remove.

I first purchased the Power Skin for my Samsung Skyrocket about 2 months ago. It lasted a week before it would no longer charge. It had something to do with the connection in the Power Skin case. I took it back to AT&T for replacement. They saw the problem and exchanged without hassle. It's two months a later and I'm now on my third Power Skin. They all fail after a week or two of constant use. The charging connection within the Power Skin is of poor design. I finally gave up and purchased and extended (larger) 3850Mh battery with a larger phone cover to support the larger battery. It works great! However, I wish someone would manufacture a flexible skin that will fit the phone with the larger battery.

Update, I've been using my Powerskin since the end of Jan and recharge every night with no issues, so far. It keeps my phone battery at 100% for at least 12 hrs before it drains, then the phone battery will go for another 12+ hrs. For a test, I let the Powerskin drain to zero and didn't recharge it overnight as usual and my phone battery is at 91% after 6 hrs. I think I'm getting great battery life from both the Powerskin and my phone battery.

does any one have any pictures of how the phone looks with the skin on, the site only shows 2 shots and they are kinda hazy.

I was debating between this and the extended battery since I work long shifts in an area with poor reception (always on one bar of 4g or 3g constant switch). all the extended battery cases look awful and disproportionate and offer no cover for the phone. this looks like a great option but seems to have some mechanical issues

I bought a power skin when I first bought my Skyrocket and it lasted a week before it got really hot and just stopped holding a charge. I took it back to AT&T and they refunded my money without hassle.

I glad to read others have had good luck with it.

Just a quick note I have gone thru two power skin in leas than a year both failed for different problems. Power skin now says to bad you just past your year mark. For the money I would have been better off just buying a extra battery
